HWY1 pups

After a year I've bought my n° 1, finally I've understood what really I loved of her: her pups!

I mean, it's beautiful the way she transmit the vibrations trough the wood but the sound is the primal thing I like...actually, it's a bit strange that I always read about the fact that the HWY1 are weak, beacause I finally noticed (I have to be a little dumb  ) that they seems alike something very compressed and nearly an humb or a P90....they're not weak or vintage style, just modern and powerful...someone else found it?

Which version of the Highway do you have?

Texas or alder body?

2005? Or before or after?

I think the pickups after mid 2005 in the alder bodied version could not be worse.

I put a set of hwy 1 pups in a partscaster i put together a couple of months back; more on the vintage side for specs. I stayed with the greasebucket wireing, and along with my fat neck,6100 fret wire,10 radius, rosewood board. I must have got lucky, the damn thing sounds amazing !!! Ive never had a problem giging with it. She works well with my 808 TS. yep i like em!>or maybe just this set.

I just recently played a highway one from the first year it came out and thought the pups sounded really nice. I was bummed when the dealer and myself could not agree on the price so I had to walk away. Played and sounded great though!

Seems like people love em or hate em. No in between. I have a 2006 which I guess some here say are the crappy pickups. I was going to change them out because they made the guitar very "G" string heavy. the stagger on them is pretty extreme so I pushed the D and G string pole pieces flush with the B and E and could not be happier. They pickups can now be adjusted up or down front to back for better string balance.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess

I got no problem with the stock pickups. I guess if I wanted traditional Tele twang they might not be what I'm after, but for modern or classic rock I find them quite nice.

I can still conjure up twang and nice cleans on my Hwy1 by simply rolling off volume. Lots of tone in this guitar, and if you like big chunky necks and tall frets it is a player's dream. Maybe the best guitar for the money I've ever bought.

Thanks to all...I was just wandering the way the HWY1 pups are considered junk!!
And for the twang I have the Baja ;-)

Junk is a strong word here..I wouldn't say there junk for not being music to peoples ears  Traditional Tele they are not..but neither is Country traditional anymore

Sorry for the word! (I'm Italian, don't understand the differences), but I've read a lot of threads in which all people say the HWY1 are very bad...I was just saying that they are very well (in my ears)

I love my Highway One but the pickups are sitting in my parts box. I did not care for them, especially the bridge.
