Finally just got my Blackout Effectors mantra overdrive and a monte allums modded Sd-808!! It's 1am here so I can't exactly try them out but I'll be sure to get back to you once I have!

From initial tests the SD-808 has knocked my stock blues driver off my board to be used as a bit of a hairy boost. It's has a lot of volume on tap and the gain has a fair amount of range to, going up to a medium gain level, that mid boost is beautiful and really pinches through, whilst the tone knob is actually usable! I never owned a stock Sd but I like this one very much, might have to pick up a stock one later on to play with. Now the mantra is a different beast altogether, it is (surprisingly) super versatile and With a quick play I found a few very different settings I could use. With gain up high and seething the pedals eq for a mid cut the power chords definitely wanted to come out an play! Whilst setting it for a mid boost could get me into similar areas as the Sd. Got a killer 'woman tone' (how I dread the term) too while playing around. Ended up setting it with a fairly transparent sound and a fair bit of gain as it responds so well to my playing dynamics It gave me the most options this way Both pedals stellar, but in different ways then I though they would be |
