Hi guys, i am currently making my first Tele from scratch. I have everything ready for Spraying, i.e. sanded and filled with natural grain filler.
Now my problem is do i need a clear primer under the clear nitro.
Buy the way if anyone knows where to buy nitro aerosols in IRELAND please let me know.

What you are looking for is a "sealer"... it is not strictly necessary.
Using sealer will help to keep the solvents in the overcoat heading out, rather than into, the body of the guitar. This will get you a harder, drier finish faster, with less problems related to shrinkage.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that I needed some sort of primer/sealer. I went into my local hardware store a few days ago and asked for a clear sealer and they looked at me as if I was looking for the meaning of life. I think my best hope is with boat builders supplies. They use clear sealers under the main colour.

The best sealer for nitro is vinyl sealer in my opinion. However, lacquer and poly based sanding sealers work as well. As does dewaxed shellac.
