Buying wood around Gatlinburg TN?

I am spending a week of vacation in Gatlinburg and will be going all over the Smokies. I don't want to go crazy looking for wood, but if there is a good place close at hand to buy something unique to this area I would sure like to grab a few pieces. Second question: what are some local woods that would be found in north east Texas where I am from. Cherry wood?

Woods common to the area would be tulip poplar, shagbark hickory, sourwood, ash, pecan, river birch, various oaks, white pine, dogwood, and black walnut. Generally nothing too exciting or that can't be had just about anywhere.

I'm not aware of any specialty lumber places close by Gatlinburg. I get most of my quality wood from Wall Lumber in Mayodan, NC.

About the only thing I'd have an eye out for is any old chesnut lumber suitable for salvage. But, competition for that stuff is fierce.

The 'classic' east Texas wood is osage orange.

Thanks!! I will be stopping by there. My local sawmill never has ash, so I'm hoping to find a few planks.

I stopped by and am glad I did. Very nice folks with a lot of great wood. I picked up some ash and African Mahogany. Saw some coca bolo that looked fantastic but didn't get any. Just didn't have enough room to get it all.
