a good 74 tele clone pickup

I played a friends four bolt 74 tele a few weeks back. As far as he knows it has the stock pup in the bridge. I plugged it into my twin an whhhoooooo nelllly. This thing was crazy. If it were a blindfold test I would have called it a humbucker with all the power. I had never played an older tele before, just the 90s onward stuff. Is this how all of this era pickups are for teles?

Reason I ask is I am about to pick up a new pine body CV squire tele to fool with. I wanted to put my Tele hot rails in the back (I use a hot rails in almost all of my fender guitars for the metal side of me, and rarely use the bridge for all the clean work I do, its just how I like the guitar setup), but after playing the 74 I would like to try to get a high output pickup for the bridge, or something that doesnt sound so weak like most bridge pups in fenders sound to me. Some may love that sound but I play harder rock, heavy blues and every now and again metal. I just know if I had that pickup out of that guitar I would never change it.

Are there any bridge pickups I should consider? And what about a good neck to match with the suggestion made?

Thanks

DiMarzio Pre B-1 bridge and a DiMarzio True Velvet in the neck.
