When you guys rout your neck pockets whats the normal depth , the body i've got was allready done to 15.4mm (0.606 ) and when i fit the neck it sits 12mm(0.472) above the body and as i'm not using a pickguard it looks to high also i'm worried i might run out of adjustment on the saddles , waiting for tuners and saddles to arrive before i can check .

I use 11/16", but 5/8" is pretty standard.

In my limited experience, a 5/8 pocket with a 1" neck thickness yields saddles that are higher than desireable or comfortable. I made my pocket 3/32 deeper and my saddles on a traditional bridge are about 1/8th off the bridge plate on the E strings. I was satisfied with the results. very comfortable to play.

Thanks guys
I took some more out of the neck pocket down to 17.3mm (0.681) , gives me 9.5mm off the body , still looks high with out a pickguard , bridge saddles did'nt arrive so can't set it up yet .
All these Imperial measurements very confusing , stopped using it in the Construction Trade in 1968 , i'll have to buy a Imperial tape or ruler .

9.5 mm , you should be good at that. The normal saddle height is 12 mm so if everything is straight and flat you should fall nicely within the range of adjustment afforded by the saddle height screws.

Got the saddles fitted today , set the action and i've got a saddle height of 10mm , i think one shim on the front of neck pocket and it'll be spot on . Thanks .
