Pedal suggestions?

Hey there,
I'm really wanting to start getting some more pedals to create a pedalboard (all I have is a Cry Baby Original). Is there any tips/suggestions to build a basic pedalboard?
THANK YOU!

Well, Doc, first of all, welcome to the forum!

We may need a little more info to help you get started. What kind of music you play, what do you like, are there any effects in particular you're curious about? etc.

Welcome to the forum! What kinda music are you looking to play? Different genres have different tones.

I'm kind of an all around player, lately I've been playing more country, but I like to play a lot of rock, jazz, and metal sometimes

Ye ol' standbys:

Dirt: Rat, DS-1, SD-1, OD 250, MXR Distortion
Boost: Rat, TS-9, Micro Amp
Fuzz: Rat, Fuzz Face, Muff
Delay: DD-3, Carbon Copy
Compressors: CS-3, Dynacomp

Ok, here is what you need: Tuner, Compressor, OD and Distortion to taste, Phaser, Reverb and Delay. Oh and you should get a Noise Suppressor. That should get you started.

If only the Rat could do delay and compression!

Any opionions on AquaPuss?

Its a great delay for slapback. If you are going for longer delay settings, I'd go with something digital like the Boss.

Suggestions for other pedals?

I really like the Aqua Puss for the country slapback stuff. My favorite OD is the Fulltone OCD and I really like using the Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive for a light OD/Clean Boost. I use a Boss DD-3 for longer delays. I have a Fender amp so I just use the reverb from that.

Eventide Pitchfactor.

(This game is easier if we could narrow down what you want)

!

That's funny, I felt the same way when he said "country" ;-)

country ... I guess a compressor, overdrive, delay. thats most of what I hear anyways. going cheap(price, not results) I'd get the biyang compress x, a joyo ultimate drive, and spend the money for an aqua puss.

if you want a rock sound, join the rat pack on the cheap with the gfs brownie
if you want metallica, get a micro metal muff

Except for the "Dan" monkey.

Guess some people have pet names for their pedals.

Those seem reasonably priced! I'll definitely try them out! I was also told to look into a Boss Looper?

IMO Don't buy anymore pedals. It will lead you down a long dark endless road of trying to find the holy grail of each type. Next thing you know your buying kits, modding pedals then your trying to build your own. You'll have caps and resisters all over the place. I know from experience.

Is there a pedal that kinda mimics a G/B Bender?

telequacktastic
July 13th, 2012, 10:50 PM
That will isolate strings and bend pitch? No, sir I've never heard of anything like this. The Digitech Whammy pedal does this, but I've never used one, I know a guy who does and he quit using them because he says they're unreliable, but YMMV. They bend every string at the same time. If that makes sense.
