Taylor 310ce - Tell Me How Much I Am Going To Like It

I am finishing a trade tomorrow morning for a Taylor 310ce. I am currently playing mid - line Seagull Performer ( which I like quite a bit ). Never had a " nice " acoustic and am pumped to get my hands on this one. Any owners of this model out there? I am trading off a used Classic 50's Tele, some pedals and a Egnater 1 x 12 cab with a Red Fang in it. Fair trade I think.

Well...your gonna love it.
I have a 314ce and it gets more than its fair share of the guitar love at home.
I find i grab it in the mornings and afternoon shifts are for the tele.
My Buddy had his mind set on buying himself a Martin, so we set out to do so.....in the end he couldn't find anything close to the 210ce he found for the price. He loves the livin hell outa it.

Well I've owned two 510s, a 710 (all mid-'90s models) and a 310CE. I'm really a Gibson guy--that's all I play now acoustically--but the Taylor's obviously have something going on. I was a big fan especially of their older necks, before the "NT" thing.

The 310CE is a very nice guitar for stage or just to play w/o sound reinforcement. Mine was typical "Taylor": plenty of volume, nice tone--quite even across the strings--and ability to set-up for pretty low action even if you pick pretty hard like I do. I used the 310CE quite a bit on stage and found the on-board system to be good. I did run mine through a Baggs DI box as I've used it with all acoustics for years. They may well have improved the 310 pup system since I bought it (an early edition) but it was fine as it was. I only sold it because I had a very nice pup in an old J-45 I've had for years and preferred that guitar + had too darned many guitars.

I sold it probably at least five years ago to a good friend I still play with and he gigs it regularly and plans on keeping it forever. I think you'll be happy with yours. I've recommended that same model to others through the years for a reasonable priced stage + acoustic guitar. Have fun with it.

own a 414gc and a 514ce...both are great in their own ways

I own two Taylors, a 312CE and a 414CE , both were bought on the USED market..excellent guitars in sound and quality, both have the earlier Fishman systems, love these guitars. Most Taylors are setup very well and play very well but don't be afraid to have a good Luthier take a look at it and evaluate it, a good Luthier can take a real nice guitar and turn it into a great guitar... The 300 series Taylor guitars, USA made, are very hard to compete with for playability, build quality and sound...The 300 and 400 series is what put Taylor on the map...in that price point...

I have a 2004 310 CE I bought new and I absolutely love it. I've played quite a few different makes off and on over the years, some quite nice and great sounding. The fact is the Taylor is like an extension of me sort of like a Tele. It's a great instrument. Good luck and enjoy!

Ran up to GC to run one thru it's paces today. Man, I hope the one I am trading for sounds as good.

I have a 310ce bought new in 2006. They are great guitars, and worth the street price. Not just because it says Taylor on the headstock, but because they are built well and have great voices. I think it is a great all around sound. Mine has really opened up in the 6 years of its life. I use it every week at church, either solo or in a band, and it holds its own in the mix no problem.

Now after all that love... I do plan on either replacing it, or making it a secondary acoustic instead of my primary, and the reason has to do with body style, not that I don't like my 310ce. I am leaning more towards smaller bodies and lighter strings in my playing and can see myself moving towards a Taylor GC or GS mini model someday.

If it's 3x as good as my 110ce, you'll love it. Someday when I don't have a 10-month old banging on my Taylor, I'll probably upgrade to a 310ce.
