Why I like Adele

I found the video below on YT tonight. It is the performance at the Feb Grammy's.
I gotta say, this chick is really good. I know that she is a pop singer, but there is something earthy about her voice.
I also really liked the fact that she isn't 50lbs soaking wet. She looks and acts like a full grown adult female, and isn't traveling the world in a pair of tights and a G-string.
The other thing I like about her is that she does her own writing.
In the entire music scene that has existed since 2000, this is the first time I have seen somebody who is concerned about the music, and not trying to get little girls all worked up.
She is having her first child and she has stated that it is a very private thing and that they ask that everyone respect the baby's dignity. Now, that is a mother who cares for her kid and not her PR.

I dig her voice! That she has a few morals is a big plus.

since i don't much listen to pop radio, i'm not a victim to her stuff being "overplayed". i get to overplay it myself. i love "21". the best album of the 2000's (so far). somebody done broke her heart, and she put every bit of it into all the grooves on the record. honest vocals, understated arrangements. powerful and heartfelt. she is this generation's Dusty Springfield.

Her voice gives me goosebumps. Her interviews are entertaining as well.

oh trust me shes a lot more than 50 pounds :lol:Thank God for that. I think she's HOT!

I've always had a preference for larger women who actually look like women, and not teenage girls who vaguely resemble teenage boys...

Seriously, I think women who are skinnier than Jayne Mansfield (http://www.demeterclarc.com/tag/jayne-mansfield/) should be banned from modelling...

(Oh yeah, and Adele can sing too... )

and the music is predominantly piano and guitar based, not synth. more organic than your typical pop star, she's a total throwback to the 60s. Great voice, great tunes.

I think she's a great singer with a style of her own.

The only thing that bugs me is that I hear her style of singing being copied a lot lately, and quite badly at that. The same happened with Amy Winehouse.

An ordinary pop star only elevated beyond the usual level of mediocrity thanks to the relative detritus that makes up modern music.

I don't find her offensive, but I also don't find anything interesting about her. Were we to have more talented and less contrived musical artists in general then I suspect no one would even care about her. Saddens me that just avoiding being absolutely terrible should allow for such adoration these days.

I find her quite interesting... especially given the fact she doesn't rely on barbie doll looks or soft porn music videos like 95% of other female starlets... nor is she a cut and paste product that can be easily duplicated by a marketing machine.

From my seat she's risen to the fore on the back of hard work, solid song writing, admirable performance skills both as a vocalist and a pianist, humility and (not to mention) talent. Sure - I don't think she's in the same league of stardom as a miriad of other musicians, but I doubt that's her modus operandi either.

I just enjoy it for what it is - good, honest musicianship.

Yeah, she is seriously overplayed, but she's seriously good too.

I really dig her cover of this:

She can carry a tune, but so can a lot of people. Just another over-shouty diva as far as I can see.

Maybe, but somebody is buying her music and going to her concerts and that automatically separates her from 99.9% of the rest of the would-be's

True - I don't begrudge her her success. But popularity is no mark of quality - quite the opposite most of the time.

Not a victim of overplay here, either. She has a good, strong voice. I don't listen to the genre much, but when I hear something like that, the opposite of a boy band or American Idiot TV Karaoke, there is hope.

Well, I guess I have always been a fan of someone who pulls themselves up by their own bootstraps. In the entertainment industry today, it is becoming just like the aristocracy is in Europe.
It's not your talent or gifts that matter. What matters is to whom are you related.
Just the other day they ran a story on MSNBC (internet) about how all of the current "new discoveries" are related in some way to someone in the biz.

For those who find her dull, and uninspiring, I would think that there are plenty of artists that flash and pop out there to satisfy. I saw a photo of Lady Gaga who was walking off an airplane in LA. She had on a pair of see-thru tights and a G-string. She was also giving everyone the finger.

I just was taken aback that there was great energy she had and, as has been stated, the band she was working with were great.
Yeah, it's not as visually intensive, but I don't go to concerts or listen to music for it's visual concerns. I look for something that piques my interest, and in today's market, that is a rare find.

Also, as far as her jumping around or other antics, the woman is pregnant. We don't know whether she might be on some restrictions. The one thing I
did notice is that all of the female singers and even Paul McCartney were knocked out by her performance. That kind of speaks for itself too.
This is why I like the woman.
