I picked up a cheap dvd of this band playing at the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame.

I've only played it once so far but, on first listening, all I can say is that I'm glad it was only $5!!!

They play what can best be described as 'plodding versions' of some of the great Allman tunes and Mr Betts was certainly not on top form - seeming to miss beats and almost playing against the rest of the band at times.

How they ever saw fit to release this dvd to the public is beyond me. If it'd been my band filmed playing as badly as this, I'd have destroyed the master tapes!

I had high hopes for this dvd as the only Allman Bros dvd I've got is from the late 80s/early 90 when Warren Haynes was with them and although that's a really good concert, they don't play Jessica or Ramblin' Man on that one so I really was looking forward to watching this.

What a let down......

Oh, man I hate to hear that. I keep the occasional eye out for DB to play in town, but it doesn't happen. Still, I'll probably go see them if I get the chance.

I saw him a few years ago when he had Dan Toler in the band. They were real good. Dickey is pretty unpredictable by all accounts. But when he's on, it don't get much better.

Too bad the DVD is a stinker.

One of the best shows I ever saw was Dickey and Great Southern on the Union Oval at Ohio State University, 'bout the summer of 1977 or so. Free show, had McGuffey Lane, also had Steve Smith, a cowtown local, (friend of mine). Unbelieveable. About 4 hours on a hot saturday afternoon.
