I have a 2004 mim standard tele and was wondering if the cavity was deep enough for a push pull pot? Also, there is a 250k pot in there now, I thought they were supposed to come with 500k or 1meg?

Rob DiStefano July 10th, 2012, 06:14 AM I have a 2004 mim standard tele and was wondering if the cavity was deep enough for a push pull pot? yes. Also, there is a 250k pot in there now, I thought they were supposed to come with 500k or 1meg? the standard volume pot value for single coil pups is 250k (or so) - higher values can augment treble tone. .... sjtalon July 10th, 2012, 07:19 AM May be just the area under the Tone pot, not volume. >I thought they were supposed to come with 500k or 1meg< Where did you you come up with that ? frankjc July 10th, 2012, 09:47 AM Thanks. I had it apart for the first time last week figuring out why the bridge pickup doesn't work. I remember it looking pretty tight in there. I thought I remembered seeing schematics that showed other values for the pots. I know my strats came with 250k. Just thought Teles were different. garrett July 10th, 2012, 10:17 AM You'll have room under the tone pot, but not the volume pot unless you do some routing. jwsamuel July 10th, 2012, 12:32 PM You'll have room under the tone pot, but not the volume pot unless you do some routing. Correct. You have to get rid of the wood between the spaces for the volume and tone pots. Jim |
