Talking about nuts.alfbell July 9th, 2012, 01:22 PM Any advice on what is the best material (and best brand or manufacturer) for a nut at the top of the neck? Thanks in advance. Colt W. Knight July 9th, 2012, 01:41 PM Bone MrTwang July 9th, 2012, 01:48 PM I usually use a bone nut if I'm putting together a guitar. Pretty cheap and a definite improvement on the standard plastic nut I think. Koko and MrTwang are spot on, too. A badly-shaped bone nut is probably worse than a well-shaped cheap plastic nut. Nick JD July 10th, 2012, 12:44 AM Capo the first fret and detune and no nut's a bad nut! piece of ash July 10th, 2012, 12:45 AM Really... why the heck aren't zero frets more popular? Rob DiStefano July 10th, 2012, 06:12 AM my order of nut material preference - unbleached bone, horn, corian. zero nuts can't be readily individual string tweaked for nut relief as can be done with a real slotted nut. telex76 July 10th, 2012, 12:09 PM Bone. Only on the nuts at the top of the neck. |
