Hand out some tambourines..more surf band action

We found out that it's a good idea to let the dancers grab the band's tambourines...here's another recent Royal Aces surf band gig.

I got the idea to do this very same thing, or bringing some cheapo tambourines for the crowd to grab. One thing I've noticed, which you've probably noticed as well, is that the ladies love to play the tambourine. Good stuff!

Ride them Waves!

Here I've been playing in bands since junior high school, and now that I'm 60 I'm in a band that has a semi "thing" going...

Cool! Yeah at some of our family friendly gigs (eg. Thursday night summer concerts on the town square) we set out a basket filled with toy tambourines, maracas, etc. from the dollar store for the kids to use. Sometimes when we remember to we put a little sign up asking that they please return them to the basket before they leave so other children can share in the fun...not that we care so much, but the first time we did this everybody thought "Wow free stuff!!!" and the supply was depleted almost immediately...LOL.

ONe thing I've noticed is that as soon as someone grabs a tamborine they have no rhythm.

...that would also apply to me when I try to dance, or do some cool moves to the song we're playing...

We do most of the same things . . . hand out about 25 kazoos sometimes . . . really gets the crowd into some songs, but ya' gotta control them or they'll play them on every song!

I made the mistake of handing out a harmonica with a bad reed. The girl blew it the whole damn show right in front of me. Never. Again.

The lesson is clear: control the crowd toys!

Makes one wonder what would happen if you decided to give out string bikinis!!:grin:
