Fret slotting depth??????

i am building a tele neck with a 10" radius fretboard and I was wondering how deep i should cut the fret slots because I am using the table saw>

Depends on the fret wire you're using. The Allparts LT-0461-000 that I have just used for a friends guitar needed a slot depth of 1.7mm which is similar to Stew-Mac medium if that's any help.

What Pinewood said. Most fretwire has a tang height between .050" and .074".

However... that's the depth you need at the edge of the fretboard, after it's been radiused and tapered. You'll need to do a little math to figure out the thickness removed at the edge due to the radius. I'd try to help out here but I've been sanding a floor all day and am too tired to coherently do geometry :-)

You could also just cut it and go back with a hand saw after you've radiused the fretboard. Depending on how quick you are with math, that might be a faster option.
