I finally tried my Telecaster into a DOD 250 ...... and wow, what a badass sound ! The DOD 250 still lets my telecaster retain it's original twang but adds some meanass dirty sound !

Telecaster into a DOD 250 = TONE !clapointe July 7th, 2012, 05:58 PM I finally tried my Telecaster into a DOD 250 ...... and wow, what a badass sound ! What amp? twangjeff July 7th, 2012, 06:08 PM The old DOD 250 is a great pedal. That was the "Natural" sounding od pedal before we got all of the boutique stuff like the Timmy, Red Snapper, AC Booster, etc. Unfortunately now the only people that use those people are the Yngwie wannabes with the halfway unbuttoned shirts and leather pants, but it does make a GREAT all purpose OD. clapointe July 7th, 2012, 06:16 PM Which version of the 250 are you using? What amp? I'm using a DOD 250 Reissue (that I modded to true-bypass) into a Bassman or a Marshall head ! telefunken July 7th, 2012, 06:56 PM http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/Rojelio/dodtop.jpg I have this one by AnalogMan, a modded DOD YJM308, here's how he describes it................. "741-"mojo" MOD The most accurate at matching original gray (no surprise there). Tubey and round sounding highs with that low, slightly loose growling low end. Same noise levels as the original. Best YJM308 mod for authentic duplication of original grey" Great pedal! clapointe July 7th, 2012, 11:00 PM For country or blues the DOD 250 is a great pedal for the telecaster ! chippertheripper July 8th, 2012, 08:04 AM I just picked one up too, for real short $. No unbuttoned shirt and leather pants necessary. I'll not be looking for an od again. It's textbook, whether just a hint, or yngwie full bore. smoss469 July 8th, 2012, 09:09 AM Would love to hear some clips metulmykul July 9th, 2012, 04:26 AM We've been rediscovering these just recently... what a great pedal! A friend just got a few reissues (literally today) that he has just lined up with an early 80s model, a YGM 308 and a version he made to grey specs with the 741 chip. His thoughts... The YGM was a different pedal, more bottom end, not to his liking. The others are all very, very, very close (even on the scope). He didn't think you'd be doing yourself a disservice by grabbing a reissue, especially for the money you'd save. Glad one of those reissues is mine  Plus i played the the little silver 'grey spec' A cracker of a pedal. http://www.tdpri.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=134081&stc=1&d=1341822142 Cliff Rogers July 10th, 2012, 08:42 PM Here is something worth watching for, particularly if you are in Brisbane in Oz. http://www.tymguitars.com.au/?p=13267 Tee1 July 11th, 2012, 05:12 AM I have a USA made reissue of the DOD 250. I think it's essentially the same circuit as the Chinese. There are some cosmetic differences though. I like it. It's quite ballsy, in that it has a good amount of bass to it. I don't think there's any way of dating mine. Does anyone know when exactly the USA run of reissues were manufactured? I'm thinking mid 90s to '99 maybe? Oh btw, i'm playing the 250 with a Tele into a plexi. |
