hybridrocknroll July 6th, 2012, 04:19 PM I picked up this new Classic 60's Strat (MIM) in Lake Placid Blue! Loving everything about it so far. Quality is better than many of the MIA I've played and owned. Great sounding and playing axe. Neck feels good and smooth in my hands. Getting ready to lock the trem down with a couple extra springs, and possibly throwing some new PUPs in in the future. Waiting for my new Levy's strap to arrive (borrowed one from another in the stable) then I'm all set. I've been quacking all week!

Kennedycaster July 6th, 2012, 04:35 PM Very nice. IMO, the MIM 60's classics are one of the best values out there. Enjoy it.

hybridrocknroll July 6th, 2012, 04:45 PM Thanks Bob!
I saw it on the bay and just snatched it up. I had a Road Worn 50's sunburst that I didn't bond with, do I sold it to my cousin (who fell in love with it as soon as he payed it).
I wanted a Strat, but didn't want to drop a load of cash into a MIA. My first Strat years ago was a MIM in wine red, and I still miss it (traded in towards paying off a MIA in Sienna Sunburst). So far so good for this one though. Bonded faster with it than most other guitars I've owned (aside from my Crooks, but that's a different story altogether).
Gene Machine July 6th, 2012, 07:04 PM nice, bro. I just ordered a LPB MIM std. gotta love the blue.
MT Tele July 6th, 2012, 07:42 PM NICE GUITAR. I had an Am STD Strat in 94 in LPB, loved the color, but wanted a Tele!
nadzab July 6th, 2012, 08:02 PM Absolutely stunning!
hybridrocknroll July 6th, 2012, 09:47 PM Thanks guys! The finish is gorgeous. It's crazy how in one light it's almost silver looking, but in others it's a real deep blue.
Racer5 July 7th, 2012, 03:55 AM 50s, 60s, 70s reissue strats can't be beat for the price. Just a little nudge over regular MIM quality and details.
blue metalflake July 7th, 2012, 09:42 AM Looks really well - next to sunburst that's my favourite finish. Enjoy!
Jeff R July 7th, 2012, 03:32 PM LPB and rosewood. Can't beat that combo. Congratulations.
Hiker July 7th, 2012, 03:50 PM That's a great color, Congrats!
electrablue July 7th, 2012, 08:09 PM Nice! Congrats!
hybridrocknroll July 7th, 2012, 09:54 PM Thanks again folks.
Quick question: what's your opinion on the old removing the Strat backplate affecting tone deal. Any believers?
Kennedycaster July 8th, 2012, 01:24 AM Quick question: what's your opinion on the old removing the Strat backplate affecting tone deal. Any believers?
Another myth. It has no effect either way. The only reason to leave it off is easier string changes, or for chronic modders who keep fiddling with the trem spring tension. I keep mine on.

+1 on it being a myth. Half of mine I leave the back plate off and those are the ones I use to test pickup tone in.
