For the past few years Phish has been my favorite band along with other jam bands. But about a month ago, I heard the Black Key's new single "Gold on the Ceiling" it was amazing. From there I read about them on Wikipedia, looked into some of their other stuff and a few albums later theyre my favorite band....for now. Haha

They have a cool blues/rock garage band feel. (maybe because their first few albums were recorded in drummer Patrick Carney's basement) The fuzz riffs and the wild drumming is so cool. Their new image is cool as well. Theyve added a bassist and keyboard/synth/pianist.

Im not sure what my favorite album is but I really like "Rubber Factory" and their newest release "El Camino". "Brothers" and "The Big Come up" are great too. Just not my favorites.

What about you guys?

Can I recommend hearing aids? Only joking - kinda - I guess I'm impartial to them, nothing about them seems really fresh to me, but that's only MY opinion, right? :')

If you like them, check out Arctic Monkeys' albums Humbug and Suck it and See - TBKs took the Monkeys on tour with them in the states recently and the Monkeys are kinda like the equivalent in terms of popularity over this side of the pond. Only difference being the Monkeys have better lyrics and probably the best rock drummer of all time. :P

Love the Black Keys, but can't really listen to any of their stuff after Magic Potion.

Seen them live and I got the feeling from most of the crowd they felt the same. Place blew up for old songs, everyone went to bar for the new stuff.

I've just started listening to them, since I got Rocksmith for Christmas.

At first the vocals and guitars reminded me of Neil Young in a way, but my most recent opinion is they remind me of early ZZ Top.

I am liking them a lot.

I've got Rubber Factory, Chulahoma, Brothers, and El Camino. I am getting Thickfreakness next.

Personally, I think the days of finding anything truly fresh/original/groundbreaking in pop/rock music are long, long gone.

Love the Keys too and agree that their earlier stuff is superior but the new stuff ain't bad at all either. All their stuff is worth owning in my opinion.

I personally love them, I first listened to Brothers and started to move backwards. My favourite album so far is Rubber Factory. There albums line up like this for me:

Rubber Factory- Thickfreakness- Brothers- The Big Come Up (tie for fourth)- Magic Potion (tie for fourth)- Attack & Release (tie for fourth).

I don't include El Camino because it is (very) different than there other stuff. I find it more of a casual listen, something you can out on anytime anywhere. Something you would listen to while on the subway.

This will give you a quick fix. It's a recording of at BBC Radio 1. 45 mins of Black Keys goodness. They're one of my favorite bands too.

People always compare them to the White Stripes, and while they are similar, I was never really able to get into TWS music.
