Telecasteur July 5th, 2012, 10:50 PM Hey ladies and gents! I've been playing guitar for 12 years, but have never owned a Tele, or a single coil guitar for that matter (i'm now convinced coil tapping doesn't count).
Here she is.. picked her up at Guitar Center in North Austin, TX during the 4th of July sale. I had no idea what i was missing!!!

Ash body and reversed controls. This is what sold me.. The volume knob just feels right, there. It's right-handed, but the pic is mirrored.
I think i'll need to throw some compensated saddles on there for better intonation though.. any suggestions?

Thanks for posting this. Good read. I'm skeptical, but only because i'm used to 6-saddles. I'll give it a try.
I'd like to keep my new Tele as stock as possible.. unless someone can convince me that putting in Lollars will destroy any feelings i have for these stock "classic" pickups. I'm new to single coils, so i think they sound pretty good already. Do I not know what i'm missin?
Telecasteur July 6th, 2012, 11:54 PM Welcome and great find, Congrats! Your bass looks like a good one, too.
Thanks! It's a Warmoth body, with my American Precision neck off of my first bass I ever had. I just spent about 3 hours setting it up.. threw a shim under the neck heel, because the angle just wasn't right, and now it's a growling beast.
Halbert July 7th, 2012, 09:59 AM I'm new here too, and congrats on the new Tele. IMO single coil pickups just have more character than HBs. It is so easy to ID a strat, tele, a Ric or a Gretsch when you here it in a song. When you here someone shredding on some HBs it could be almost any guitar of that sort. There are a few exceptions, Standard Les Pauls or ES-335s are not too difficult to pick out. But you hear someone playing on a filtertron and you know right away.
You made an excellent choice, sir.
