I'd like to see/hear the OV's run through the same setup as the Nocasters without all the effects.
Anyone know of a good place to hear and compare?

Anyone have clips of clean Fender Nocasters vs. Original Vintage Pickups?OzShadow July 5th, 2012, 04:53 PM I'd like to see/hear the OV's run through the same setup as the Nocasters without all the effects. Anyone know of a good place to hear and compare? WaylonFan76 July 5th, 2012, 05:05 PM IMO the only real test it to buy a set and install them in your set up. Internet clips through computer speakers played by somebody else on a different amp than yours is really not a good enough idea, IMO. JM $.02 leetorrence July 5th, 2012, 06:16 PM WaylonFan is probably right, but here's a youtube with side by side comparison (different guitars) of ov and nocaster through an AC-30 p2CcSN4G3h0 I'll leave this thread now before the debates about alder/ash bodies and maple/rosewood necks and their relative contribution to the sound get too heated  Dr. Pants July 6th, 2012, 10:33 PM IMO the only real test it to buy a set and install them in your set up. Internet clips through computer speakers played by somebody else on a different amp than yours is really not a good enough idea, IMO. I'd have to agree. I've tried going on a basis of sound clips in a few instances, and the reality never bears much resemblance to clips. Audio clips can get you a bit closer, such as those found on the Seymour Duncan website. But even then there's too much variability. Artamus July 7th, 2012, 06:38 PM Yup, there are so many variables, it's hard to judge how a pickup might sound in your Guitar from Youtube clips - especially when most of them crank the distortion and effects to beyond the boiling point. ;)) I have the OVs installed in a vintage ashtray bridge on my Mim Standard, and I am very happy with them. If you choose the OVs, be sure to shop around, I found that the prices vary wildly, I got mine from Amazon, $53.00 with free shipping, but my local Guitar Center wanted $150.00 before tax! Telemach_1 July 8th, 2012, 04:03 AM Nice playing in the clip above but unfortunately two very different guitars w. probably very differnt sound characteristics just out of the wood. The 71 Tele sounds a lot better to my ears but that's not necessarily because of the PUs. |
