flyingbanana July 5th, 2012, 03:20 PM Hey everyone. My next big idea is for a swamp ash strat style guitar with P90 pickups and an LP style bridge and tail piece. Thinking of a vintage blonde color...maybe butterscotch. Also thinking of sticking in a Stellartone Tonestyler control.
Thinking of going quartersawn maple with rw fretboard. I'd like to use a tilt back headstock. Now if only USA Custom would start making those again...
Post pics of your guitar with P90's.
Here's kind of what gave me the idea for this...it's an Asher Marc Ford model.
RevMike July 5th, 2012, 03:25 PM I have 2. One is a Goldtop LP. The one pictured here is the only one I have a pic of readily availible. Its a 2005 Special. Its an amazing guitar. Plays like a dream.
KenH July 5th, 2012, 03:37 PM You can get the tilt-back headstock at Warmoth. I had one once and could never acquire a taste for it. It just looked wrong to me.

What didn't you like about it?
bullfrogblues July 5th, 2012, 07:05 PM Here's a solid mahogany strat style, USACG 25" scale rosewood board neck. Lindy Fralin pups, Tru-oil finish. This guitar has some mojo!

I made this Epiphone style body a while ago from the wood that I had left over from my Walnut SG builds, I routed it out for a strat single coil at the neck and a P-90 at the bridge, but for some reason it never really sounded that good.
So I took it apart and hung the body on the wall.
But today using a new neck and equally new ideas on what to do with it, I reassembled it but leaving the neck pickup out and channeling my love for Seasick Steve, stringing it up with three strings (three THICK gauge strings that is) and tuning it C-G-C and having a lot of fun.
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e22/guitarman91/100_1797.jpg
So here we are, three strings, walnut body and a smoking P-90
And my "Fido" logo.

Tonetele July 6th, 2012, 05:08 AM I once worked in a band and the pianist gave me his 1960 Les Paul Jr. S.G Type to play. I had a voice then, was a singer and guitar player, but always liked to hide behind a guitar.I thought it could do little.Boy was I wrong. That guitar was AMAZING. I even ended up doing some riffs. I will never forget that sound- and I'm a Fender lover.

Colin July 6th, 2012, 03:34 PM is it the one from Thomanns (Harley Benton)? if so, Thought of this myself, but was so cheap that I did not dare to buy it. - But is it OK? :-)
Yes it is a HB from Thomann.
I got it about a year ago. I think its certainly very ok for the money.
I like the feel and sound of it.
Nothing on-line I can share at the moment, I'll try to record something for an idea.
The 'not quite perfect' bits are:
May not be the right technical term, but one of the bushed that the tailpiece is screwed into is not totally flush with the body. It was like that when I got it, wnd something I think I could have easily returned it for. But I was so happy with it I kept it
The frets were a bit rough but a smoothing over by plaing it lots.
The tuners and pickup selector switch feel cheap, but do thir job.
The numbers in/on vol/tone knobs are almost unreadable, no problem if you play at full volume/tone settings. But if you want to turn it down thn up to a certain voume again, you can't see it well. I could replace them of course, or put a dot marker on somehow,
I use it quite a lot. I play in church a lot and use a Tele mostly, but if I want something with a slightly deeper sound and more sustain I take this with me. Works well, stays in tune, what more can I ask for.
I used to have a Gibson LP Classic, it was certainly better.
But was it the 1000 euros + better ? Personally, I think not.
I sold the Gibson as I was taking my MIM Tele anywhere I was playing and leaving the LP at home. I used the funds to buy other musical toys :-)
