Hi guys! I have no clue what is the difference between a 250k (or 500k) Soft and Split Shafts... neither between 2.5k and 3.3k resistors... Tonecaps? 0.022, 0.033, 0,01???

I'm planning to assemble an Esquire to my brother as a wedding gift, and I found a web store offering a wiring kit for esquire with some options that I mentioned above... I have no specific desires re how it should sound, I'm just looking for some advice re the best option/s.

Your inputs are very welcome!

Ivan

there are LOTS of ways to wire up an esquire, from the near useless "vintage" wiring to a more functional modern circuit. esquires are my most favorite of all electric guitars, i have 3 or 4, and i use 250k pots in all of them, for volume and tone. a single .022uf cap for the tone pot, and this is the wiring circuit ...

... this gives the following 3-way pickup switch functions ...

1. volume only (no tone)

2. volume and tone

3. volume and .0047uf cap ("cocked wah")
