e-merlin July 3rd, 2012, 10:53 PM My Heart Needs a Second Chance by .38 Special. I've been a big fan of this band for years, but as their popularity waned, they wrote some real crap.
"I never loved her,
I never needed her.
She was willing.
That's all there is to say."
Really? She was willing? That's all it took to get you in the sack?
Otherwise, their catalog gets me going.
Brad Pittiful July 3rd, 2012, 10:54 PM love the b52s - hate the song love shack
love rem - hate the song shiny happy people
e-merlin July 3rd, 2012, 11:00 PM love the b52s - hate the song love shack
love rem - hate the song shiny happy people
Well, yeah, but Shiny Happy People is B52s, no?
Swampash&Tweed July 3rd, 2012, 11:04 PM Well, yeah, but Shiny Happy People is B52s, no?
NO. Its REM.
I hate Smoke on the Water and Iron man.
2 bands I love , 2 songs I hate.
e-merlin July 3rd, 2012, 11:12 PM NO. Its REM.
With guest vocals by Kate Pierson of the B52s.
Your honor, I rest my case.
Continue, Sirs!
telefunken July 3rd, 2012, 11:25 PM Love Blind Melon
But I hate that song "No Rain"
StratBluesRock July 4th, 2012, 12:05 AM I am a huge SRV fan, but I don't really like his slide work all that much.
Also, I don't like Eleanor Rigby, no geetars, and Yellow Submarine is kinda cheezy. 2 Beatles songs right there.
Also, I don't like ZZ Top's electro-pop tunes, like Legs.
E5RSY July 4th, 2012, 12:21 AM Most '60s/'70s bands' '80s catalogs, including:
ZZ Top
Heart
The Who
etc.
Tonetele July 4th, 2012, 12:33 AM Money For Nothing but really like just about all Dire Straits songs.
Jadguitar July 4th, 2012, 07:53 AM Cant get no satisfaction
stones.
Jethro July 4th, 2012, 08:55 AM Always loved The Who....can't stand "You Better You Bet"
czgibson July 4th, 2012, 08:56 AM 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer' and 'Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da' by the Beatles. I was amazed Paul McCartney chose to end the Jubilee concert with 'Ob-La-Di'. Such a disappontment after a pretty good set from him. Surely a crowd that size was crying out for being conducted through 'Hey Jude'?
'SEX' and 'Promiscuous' by Frank Zappa. Simplistic rubbish from Uncle Frank, and not in a good way.
Neil Young's Landing On Water album. Aural ugliness of the kind that infected too much music in the 80s. At least he recovered - not everybody did.
jkingma July 4th, 2012, 09:02 AM True Confessions by Blue Oyster Cult
jbmando July 4th, 2012, 11:06 AM "Good Morning" - Beatles
"Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" - AC/DC
"Magic Carpet Ride" - Steppenwolf
to name a few.
mistermullens July 4th, 2012, 12:03 PM I am a huge Black Crowes fan, but I hate their song Nebakenzer from the Three Snakes and One Charm album. The only song of theirs I dislike.
brookdalebill July 4th, 2012, 12:12 PM I'll nominate ZZ Top's "disco era" hits "Legs" and "Sharp Dressed Man"
for knockin' me off their fan wagon.
As much as I love their music prior to "Eliminator", I never forgave them
for the sequencer/drum machine stuff.
"Rio Grande Mud" is my all time favorite blues/rock album.
waparker4 July 4th, 2012, 12:13 PM "Show Biz Kids" by Steely Dan, I love, love, absolutely love every pre 2000 Dan song but this one really gets on my nerves, they went too far with the grating repetitive backup singers
ianasdfg July 4th, 2012, 02:44 PM Half the White Album
Tarnisher July 4th, 2012, 02:52 PM "A Man Needs a Maid" by Neil Young. One of the worst songs I've ever heard by one of my favorite songwriters of all time. Hard to believe it's by the same guy who wrote "Heart of Gold," let alone that they're on the same album.
Jethro July 4th, 2012, 03:34 PM Half the White Album
Wow....Really???

Tarnisher July 4th, 2012, 03:59 PM Absolutely. I cringe every time I hear it. It's a terrible metaphor- at least I hope it's a metaphor. It's whiney and melodramatic, and the strings just make that worse.
colorado July 4th, 2012, 05:10 PM "A Man Needs a Maid"
+1000 In this case what he really needed was a kick in the a**.
Pants July 4th, 2012, 10:42 PM Cant get no satisfaction
stones.
Big +1. Sounds tuneless and directionless to my ear.
Other than that... I've been a pretty big Lucero fan for a while, but most of their new album really fell flat for me. Same with a lot of Ryan Adams' stuff, even though I think he's a fantastic singer and songwriter.
IdahoPicker July 4th, 2012, 11:08 PM 'Everybody Needs Love' -Drive By Truckers
A lot of '80s Bowie comes to mind as well.
stevieboy July 5th, 2012, 03:25 AM I figure that if I like everything a band does, they're not trying hard enough.
vj6pac July 5th, 2012, 06:04 AM Kiss - Detroit rock city
Led Zepp - Stairway to heaven
Freethenoise July 5th, 2012, 07:28 AM Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Warm Tape
Incubus - 90% of If Not Now, When?
stevehyphen July 5th, 2012, 01:16 PM Pretty much any time that Keith does lead vocal on a Stones song.
Crawfish July 5th, 2012, 01:50 PM "Sloop John B" - the Beach Boys. Ugggh.
acoustic rob July 5th, 2012, 01:53 PM It seems like Neil Young has one clunker on every album. The above-mentioned "A Man Needs A Maid", "Old King" off Harvest Moon, "Farmer John" off Ragged Glory, and "Requiem for the Rockets" off Everybody Knows... come immediately to mind.
Collirem July 5th, 2012, 01:57 PM Michael Stipe has stated that Shiny Happy People was a deliberate attempt for the band to create a "Bananna Splits - B52" childlike ditty. That of course does not justify it, but if that was the intent then I would say that they pulled it off ..... just sayin.
burtwangcaster July 5th, 2012, 03:01 PM Diggin' deep here, Wrapping Paper by Cream. They're first record [single] could have been they're last.....
picknfool July 5th, 2012, 03:15 PM Diggin' deep here, Wrapping Paper by Cream. They're first record [single] could have been they're last.....
Ditto "Anyone for Tennis?"
Dwills94 July 5th, 2012, 03:17 PM I love Pete Townsend in The Who but as soon as he went solo... complete crap. Rough Boys? seriously Pete?
Collirem July 5th, 2012, 03:58 PM Counting Crows. When they started out I really liked their first album - "August & Everything After". The next two albums were good also. Then the commercial singles started appearing; "Big Yellow Taxi" and "Accidentally In Love" - WTF? They sound like a Disney teenybopper outfit. Man, I hate to say it but they really suck now and their songwriting craft appears to have vanished. I cannot remember a band that I liked so much initially go so far south. Also, while I thought of it - "half of the White Album" Really? WOW .... in your defense George Martin would agree with you.
chabby July 5th, 2012, 04:15 PM I hate everything about REM, but like the B-52's.
The only REM song I ever liked was "Stand" because it was so bad and dorky it passed through bad and dorky, toward cool. Everything else they did never made it back around and just stayed whiny, or dorky or pseudo-neu bohemian

Have you checked out any of "Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings"? They took some time to tour after releasing those 2 you mentioned, and they came up with a pretty cool, decidedly non-teenyboppy album. It's pretty uneven like a lot of their efforts, but it's got some real gems on there.
burtwangcaster July 5th, 2012, 05:07 PM I may have this title slightly wrong-Hi Ho Silver Linning by Jeff Beck. My English friends said they would close the pubs with this one. I never understood. I love Jeff Beck and he did have great Tele tone on about five notes in this number, otherwise I can't beleive they could get everyone in Pub to sing this....
Scantron08 July 5th, 2012, 05:15 PM Long and Winding Road by you know who. Lame - soft-rock.
Big Yellow Taxi is a Joni Mitchell cover, btw.
WaylonFan76 July 5th, 2012, 05:25 PM Led Zep All Of My Love
Slow Reflexes July 6th, 2012, 01:30 AM I am a huge Black Crowes fan, but I hate their song Nebakenzer from the Three Snakes and One Charm album. The only song of theirs I dislike.Diamond Ring. Heavy. Half of Welcome to the Good Times.
Seriously, gimme the first four albums and... [edit]nevermind, I don't need to rant.
ringodingo July 6th, 2012, 02:33 AM Johnny Cash - Sunday Morning Coming Down
Never cared for this Christopherson song, tho I'll admit that Willie Nelson has an excellent rendition on Naked Willie. Maybe I just can't relate to the subject matter, tho I imagine Johnny very well could.
Vladimir July 6th, 2012, 03:19 AM "I was made for lovin' you"
kman900 July 6th, 2012, 04:40 AM Hymn by Barcley James Harvest!
Oh wait . . i hate that band . . :-(
Lunchie July 6th, 2012, 04:51 AM I love Nickelback but hate every single song of theirs....
ok for real...
That is a real tough question because there are sooo many bands that I absolutely love and then always about cd 3 or 4 they have an experimental one that blows chunks. Not that every song for every band should sound the same, I just wish more bands stick to what made them what they are.
The only one that comes to mind really is Five Finger Death Punch's remake of Bad. Good solid CD but then that song is thrown in there and it makes you ask WHY!?
Alex W July 7th, 2012, 01:26 PM Hello Goodbye - The Beatles
e-merlin July 8th, 2012, 08:26 PM 'Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da' by the Beatles..
I love that! It makes me want to skip.
Danno July 8th, 2012, 09:51 PM Abby Road. The whole album. Let it Be as well.
They had me up through most of Magical Mystery Tour and a good bit of The White Album.
Okay, Here Comes The Sun. But the rest of that album...
Smokin OP July 8th, 2012, 10:04 PM Longer by Dan Fogelberg. One on my absolute favorite songwriters & musician but I can not take that song today any better than when it was released.
refin July 8th, 2012, 10:34 PM "Muskrat Love"---America (can't believe it was covered.Well,Captain and Tenille,okay).
"Radioactive" by the Firm
B.G.L. July 9th, 2012, 10:49 PM I count Silver And Gold, Ragged Glory, and Zuma among my favorite albums by anyone, ever. Tom Dula, Gallows Pole, Get A Job, and God Save The freakin' Queen just about sent me over the edge the first time I listened to Americana. That's bad music. REAL bad. Ditto for A Man Needs A Maid.
Bruxist July 10th, 2012, 10:13 AM Most '60s/'70s bands' '80s catalogs, including:
ZZ Top
Heart
The Who
etc.
+1
Bruxist July 10th, 2012, 10:16 AM I would say that for every 2 Beatles songs I love, there is one I hate, mostly ones mentioned here, like "Hello Goodbye," "Obla-di, Obla-da," "Penny Lane," "Paperback Writer," etc.
JohnK24 July 10th, 2012, 10:26 AM The entire "California 37" album by Train....I LOVED this band, then they really went after the soccer mom/milf audience in the past year, almost a Vegas act...blaah.
Bruxist July 11th, 2012, 09:15 PM Oh yeah -- Another Brick in the Wall, Part II (but parts I and III are awesome!)
