Eric Smith July 3rd, 2012, 12:21 AM Guessing that you can figure out my name. Actually I thought that I registered once, but for the life of me I can't figure out my identity from before if I did.
I'm 42 yrs old but I've only been playing guitar for about 13 yrs or so. Actually that is how long I've been playing seriously, I guess I did happen to take my first lessons back in the 4th grade and did play a bit in college, so it has been longer.
I don't actually own a Tele at this time but am GASing for one pretty bad. Hoping to learn as much as I can here to figure out which one is right for me.
Right now I am playing an Alvarez acoustic and a Gibson Traditional Pro Les Paul through a VOX AC15C1. Great guitar and amp combination, but who doesn't want more.
Anyhow, hello.
Lunchie July 3rd, 2012, 02:40 AM Welcome,
I will tell you what everyone will tell you, Go to your local shops and play every tele in town and get the one that speaks to you.

Eric Smith July 3rd, 2012, 08:36 AM Welcome,

Same thing I would tell you about any guitar that you might be interested in. Seems to be the standard answer on about every guitar forum I have membership to. Heck I've told others this same bit of advice for buying Les Pauls, and while it holds true I understand their frustration now. Not that you have offended me or anything, because I'm not, but I wonder if I will be doleing out this advice myself any longer. I used to sell archery equipment and would have told you the same about bows and arrows. I guess the same advice follows for just about everything under the sun. Anyhow, thanks.
With there being so many different configurations and not being familiar with all of the neck shapes, what the heck is that, and sizes, I hope to learn more so as to be a bit more informed when I do purchase a tele.

Eric Smith July 3rd, 2012, 10:47 AM Thanks guys.
Cool bossaholic. I was thinking about heading over that way to check out the GC and Sweetwater so as to see what they had in the way of Tele's. Like I said, Tele's are new to me but I have played a few. I know that there are some that feel real good and have good quality parts, etc. and there are some that feel downright cheap to me. Only having the South Bend GC to play them in is kind of a bummer.
Eric Smith July 3rd, 2012, 10:49 AM I should insert that I do happen to own a Sammick Tele, I bought it just to have incase I broke a string at a gig and needed to get through the set. That thing is junk though. I thought about stripping it and using the body to make a partscaster, but electronics are are Greek to me.
rebelwoclue July 3rd, 2012, 02:35 PM Welcome! Have fun in your quest! There are so many configurations as you say so check em out and you'll eventually get the one you just have to have...
