Is there any way that I can turn my danelectro tuna-melt tremolo into a tap tempo tremolo. It originally doesn't come with tap but I figured since you can make a not true bypass pedal true bypass, you could make a non tap tempo pedal tap tempo. can I run like an external nose pedal or something into it????
I really like the tuna melt but I really need tap tempo

I don't have any first hand experience with this, however in theory converting a pedal to true bypass isn't a huge deal because it's just about changing the signal chain of the pedal (sorta like splicing an a/b signal before the actual pedal), however tap tempo has to do with adding a feature to a pedal to change it's settings so I don't think it's something that's easy or even feasible for most pedals. What you can usually do is wire the tempo pot into a jack so you can use an expression pedal instead of the build in jack, however this isn't quite as useful as tap tempo.

Looks like you are going to have find a trem pedal with tap tempo.

I once found a thread on some forum on the subject of building a tap-tempo feature into a pedal. After about 5-6 pages I realized I didn't have what it took to follow the discussion... it's a pretty complex circuit. I suppose if you were well versed in building things with Arduino microcontroller boards, it could be done relatively easily.
I figure someday I'm going to put a time-based circuit like a tremolo or a step-sequenced effect of some kind into a wah pedal housing with the rate potentiometer controlled by the rocker so I can adjust the timing on the fly with my foot. A little visual feedback from a blinking led and there you go... poor man's tap-tempo.

Well it's a bummer that i can't do it. Are there any cheap tap tempo tremolos out there?

This is a pretty sweet idea.

I was in the same boat - I got a Line 6 ToneCore Tremelo. Sounds just as good if not better than the Dano and the construction is a hell of a lot better. FYI - They don't play nice with One-Spots so I had to put a Boss PSA adapter on my on pedalboard just for it. They are discontinued but if you keep an eye on ebay you can get a good deal - I paid $50 shipped.

Thanks! And sorry what's considered a one-spot
