Fatknuckle

I built my spitfire clone with the addition of a "fat" switch as per Ken Watts' layout. Once complete, it did absolutely nothing for the tone, so I removed the internal components (cap and resistor at the right end of the board), but left the switch in place in the chassis (got to put something in that hole). It seems the tone of the amp would muddy up with a fat switch, so I am thinking of a bright switch in its place. Any ideas of how to best wire it up, options, or is this a bad idea?
