Recently created a Renbourn station on Spotify out of a mix of nostalgia for some stuff I remember my mom playing when I was a kid and curiosity about the rest of his career. Now I am getting obsessed. The guy is a master class on traditional styles from the British Isles, Appalachia, the Mississippi Delta and even the Middle East. And what an innovator. On top of that, a great storyteller.
Any Renbourn fans with advice on starting a record collection? Where would you start? What is essential?
Thanks!

I was a fan in the 60's pre Pentangle and copied his style to a certain degree .I still play Winter is gone and Beths Blues.

I also like the John Renbourne Group albums. But you can't beat the Pentangle albums.

My faves are (these are mostly solo records):
Sir John Alot Of.....
The Black Balloon
The Hermit
Lady and the Unicorn
Faro Annie
The Definitive Transatlantic Collection is a good start.

Thanks! I'll hunt around for those titles.
The Pentangle stuff seems like a whole other territory of the sort of Celtic folk rock (for lack of a better term) that emerged in the late 60s & 70s, Fairport Convention being the most prominent - to my memory at least.
