I normally buy a TDF magazine guide which outlines all the stages etc etc, but haven't managed to get a hold of one this time round - so which stages are going to have mountaintop finishes etc?

is there a team time trial stage this year? Ive been so preoccupied that I've not sussed it all out :)

cheers,

S.

None of 'em, looks like. NBC is apparently broadcasting it this year, so that's good - but I'm now a daytime worker, so I can't watch it live. The online stuff you have to buy, even if you aren't watching it live. And if they're doing an evening rebroadcast on Versus, I can't get that either.

Ah, well.

No team time trial this year, but two individual time trials + the opening prologue. Here's the route map, resized to meet the upload requirements, I lifted it off wikipedia, you can find the large original map there.

That really sucks, We've got live HD coverage on free to air TV every night.

I actually managed to watch the Australian broadcast of the first two stages a couple years ago, and it was really good. Until they blocked the stream to anyone outside of Australia. Which I completely understand since I'm not paying taxes in Australia, but it was still disappointing.

Clockwise this year.

Then the other way next year. Not sure how long they've been doing that?

Cheers,
Geoff

Its on NBC Sports Network this year. Versus doesn't exist any more. Two of the stages are going to be on NBC proper, as well.

We watch on Dish Network channel 159.

They're running ads to watch online, but it's $29 or so.

Oh, NBC Sports is its own thing? Well, poop. I guess that's one more way I can't watch it ; )

I saw the online thing and $29 is a lot better than last time (if I remember right) - but I still don't want to pay Comcast/NBC/Universal again. They already get my money for the television and internet connections.

I'm surprised DISH is allowed to broadcast it - I may have to see about ditching Comcast entirely.

NBC Sports purchased Versus last year before the tour and then at the beginning of this year put much of the Versus programing into the NBC Sports Network channel and closed down Versus entirely.

They are running a promo that claims that they have the rights to broadcast the TDF until 2018.

Horrifying, isn't it?

Time trial today could be interesting. 41.5km, serious time to be won or lost. It's been a fun first week though.

I'm looking forward to stage 11 (Albertville - La Toussuire) - I like a good mountain-top finish (safe in the comfort of my own armchair, obviously)

Yeah, this stage should be killer. Cadel needs to have a couple of guys in a breakaway, and hope they can keep it, then he has a chance to catch up to them on one of the downhills and use them to go up the next mountain, and perhaps catch up on some time, otherwise sei finito!

Catch up some time will not be enough, (if they both maintain their form) Evans must gain at least a one minute lead on Wiggins before the last TT.

I'd say more than likely he'd need 3 mins...which I don't think is going to happen now, but who knows? theres still the Alps, AND the Pyrenees...

I'm interested in the next time trial stage 19. Can Wiggins still time-trial after a week or so in the mountains?

Im interested too, if my memory serves me correctly, he's either had injuries / been held up by other crashes in the past what, 2 or 3 tours? I don't think he's even gotten around to the mountains, at least he didn't last year - that Im sure of.
