it depends on the guitar ... if you use what the maker of the guitar tells you to use, you will be fine ...

Light and Medium are relative. Go by the actual guage.

Martin Marquis Lights are .012. Mediums are .013.

Go for the sound you like...not the comfort factor.

.010" to .046" seems to be the biggest seller. Personally I don't like anything lighter and maybe heavier on a Strat. JMHO.

I think he wants to know about acoustic strings as he's posting in the Acoustic Heaven forum.

my maker is Don Pablo guitar (Chinese unknown brand that don't appear even on google). having a hard time seeking maker string specs. so the most common spec will be good for me. the only thing i am worry is about the gauge because i don't want to pull off the bridge or something.

I use D'Addario .11 bronze on a Seagull Artist Studio - acoustic electric.

.10 might be too light and slinky on an acoustic and .12 is difficult to bend strings - I play lead lines and rhythm.

Hang on a minute - the brand name "Don Pablo" sounds like it might be a Spanish/Classical style guitar which would have nylon strings (steel strings would be a very bad idea).

Does your guitar look more like the one in the first picture or the second?

Pay particular attention to the bridge area where the strings go through the body.

mine is a steel string acoustic guitar. Don pablo "makes" steel string and nylon strings guitars.

Just get D'Addario EJ-16's (Phosphor bronze, light gauge 12-53) they are a great sounding string on any steel string guitar
