Filtertron vs. Humbuckerbangcaster June 30th, 2012, 11:51 AM If i get a body with Filtertron pickup routes, can I fit humbuckers instead without routing? JCBurke59 June 30th, 2012, 01:59 PM Let me start by saying that I do not know the answer to your question as posted. What I did run into is a comment on the Stew-Mac TV Jones pickup page stating that "These pickups are English Mount, and are supplied with custom-fitted GibsonŽ mounting rings, so you can easily swap out your stock humbuckers." It sounds to me like if you go for a humbucker route, you can easily accomodate the Filtertrons. I don't know if the reverse is true. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Pickups:_Guitar,_electric/TV_Jones_Classic_Pickups.html Hope this helps in some way. Brooks A Hood June 30th, 2012, 04:39 PM No, it will not work. Filtertrons are smaller than standard humbuckers. The English mount pickups have ears or feet that allow them to be mounted in a Gibson style humbucker mounting ring. And FWIW - Filtertrons are humbucking as well. IF one wants the Gibson type of humbucking pick-up with all of the variations available, go with the Gibson approach. On the otehr hand, my strat parts guitar had single coil sized humbucking SD's in it. Among the 16 humbucking sounds, one can mimic a GREtsch to a tee....as well as a Gibson, a vintage STrat, and some sounds that don't come in any stock guitar. |
