While thinking of creative ways to get my next amp buid, I located the following 12" ribbed cone speaker. It came out of a 1981 GEM organ that I rescued from a dump trip. The organ is still going to the dump, just minus the speaker.

The white sticker on the magnet reads: 22-104, 4 ohm VC, 12J4-38, 465-8142
On the Paper cone I can read: PS4781A 140

I plugged it in to a 4 ohm guitar amp. Sitting on the bench it works.
I was thinking of another 5W single ended tweed amp. Some quick research shows that 465 meant Oxford. 1981 42nd week? Anyone tried one of these before? Any guesses on the magnet type? Ceramic, Ferrite, Alnico? Thanks,

Pics here. Good score? Bad score? It was free!

Prob is an Oxford.....however..

Examples of Source-Date Codes.

With all this information in mind, can you identify the following manufacturer and date of these source-date codes?
220 7001
Jensen speaker, 1st week of 1970.
137341
CTS, 41st week of 1953 (or 1943 or 1963, but probably 1953 as source-date codes weren't used much during or before WWII, and 4 digit date codes weren't used till the 1960's and later).
304-6110
Stackpole pot, 10th week of 1961.
137848
CTS, 48th week or 1948 or 1958.
4656755
Not a source-date code. Can you see why? If you can't, read the above information again!

Telenut62, yes it is definitely confusing and hard to be sure. I found the original organ manual still in the bench and the publish date was 1981. That is how I came to assumption that 465-8142 meant: Oxford, 1981, 42 week.

There seems to be some good working vintage tube organs out there that are nearly, or are, free for the taking. I also recently came into a 1950's Hammond S-6 with a compliment of about vintage 30 tubes, 2 Jensen speakers and a good power supply. This one may just be placed in my music room for future jams. Hard to tear into this one for the amp parts that are usable. I can use this one for recording some keys for some great blues tracks.

Good score...I never see anything like that here and people did have those Hammond organs, but maybe not till the 70's
