Hi guys,

I have a Danelectro Fab Echo pedal and I am very happy with it (it does well what it's supposed to do). However, I have been looking around for a delay pedal... I want a very subtle delay effect, not an actual 'ambience' thing. So, I came across this modification for the Fab Echo and it sound like a good idea to me.

Has anyone tried it? Even if not, what do you make of it?

Thanks!

Thanks! As you suggest, I'll try it myself... and if I really mess it up, I'll get a new one from them. It's good that I can try it stress-free knowing there's a backup plan!

The components are all surface mount and unless you really know what you are doing you will most likely kill it. Mine worked for a while...

Danelectro already did the mod for you on this pedal...personally, I would just buy this.

Yeah, but if I do it myself it'll be even cheaper and more fun! :-)

pedal+pot+1 hour= buy the finished one for $10 more.

Soldering smd is no fun at all when things don't go correctly. And I am one frugal b^$&&rd.

Exactly, by the time you buy a pot and a knob, you've already passed the cost of the finished one. I like modding pedals but this one is no fun unless you have surface mount tools.

But I already have the pedal. So the equation should be

pot+1 hour+soldering = buying the finished one for 22 euros (I took out the pot expenses)+waiting for at least a week (needs to be ordered)+shipping costs+NO FUN! ;-)

If I was in your position I'd do the mod then. Even though I knew it was the wrong thing to do :) I'd then curse myself after I screwed it up :) :)

Heheh! You're probably right... but I guess I am more determined than what I thought I was when I first posted this.

The thing is that I am trying to get myself to 'do' things... I thought this would be a nice introduction to tinkering with my equipment (I am re-reading this and it sounds somehow dirty but never mind!). In the worst case scenario, it will be a major discouraging factor and I'll end up paying a technician to install my guitar strings!

I have paid for someone to tinker with my equipment, but most of the time I have to tinker with it myself... but I prefer to let my.... wait.... nevermind

I was going to say that my brother promised to help me... but now it just sounds completely wrong!
