Neck relief question

Hi,

I have some a question about neck relief.

I have an Hagstrom F200p (24.75 scale and 15 radius) loaded with 10-46 strings.

The action is about 16,5 mm (9th fret) on the low E string and about the same or less on all others. The high E, the closest one to the fingerboard, is about 15,5mm.
The neck relief is about 0,2mm (I used a feeler gauge) on the low E and 0,25mm on high E. The others are within these values.

The question is: shouldn’t the thinnest strings be closer to the fingerboard than the others?

Thanks and best regards

Do you mean 1.65 rather than 16.5mm?

...and yes, I set the higher strings gloser to the fretboard than the lower strings. The larger strings need a little more room to move. As a baseline, I set the high E at 1.6mm and the low E at 1.8 to 2mm measured from the 12th fret to the bottom of the string. This will get you close, and further adjustments can be made from there.

Thanks for the answer.

Yes, is 1,65 mm.

I'm not getting any fret buzz, so I'll keep it this way for now.

But shouldn't the neck relief of the low E string be higher than the higher E string?
Do I have to adjust the truss rod?

The relief should be the same on both sides its the action where you adjust the thin strings closer.

Ok, thanks.

It's fine, then.
