Thanks very much re: the Strats. Warmoth supplied those bodies prefinished which is doing it the easy way.

But I'm not getting out of it that lightly. I got the bug and I'm making two scratch built Thinlines at the moment - so I'll be having apply some finish on them too down the track a bit.

Here's my collection of mongrels: (The black Tele is an MIM Std in the group photo) The yellow Tele is a Jackson neck, Gretsch 'buckers and a GFS Pawlonia body w/a 5-way and push-pulls for coil split; the Deluxe is a B.Hefner body, Allparts neck and all genuine Fender parts w/4 push-pulls for the Jimmy Page wiring; the red one is a GFS body and neck blank, GFS neck and bridge pups, and I forget the brand of the pups in the motherbucker in the center. A 3-way mini switch controls the coils in the motherbucker; a 5-way controls the neck and bridge; two volumes and a master tone. Heavy strings go thru the body on the Wilkinson compensated; the lights are top loaded. The white strat is an SX neck, Squire body and Dragonfire pups with two 3-way minis for coil split and out of phase plus std 3-way. The red Strat is a GFS body, SX neck, 3 two-way minis for coil split, plus a 5-way mixes the GFS, Douglas, and Epi humbuckers. That's a GFS bronze block trem. The Mahogany Strat is a GFS body, Mighty Mite neck, GFS Lil Killer pup set, 3 2-way minis for coil split, a 5-way mixes the pups and that's also a GFS bronze block trem.

The Strat is my first Partscaster. I did it about a year ago. I'm not really a Strat guy but I had the neck and hardware sitting around so I figured what the heck. I just finished the Tele Butterscotch and I'm liking it even more. This stuff is a lot of fun.

Alder body - early 90's MIM neck - Duncan California 50's pick ups, Schaller locking tuners.

FSR BSB body - 83 American Strat neck - Fender Original Vintage pick ups - Gotoh 6 saddle bridge - Gibson witch hat knobs.

This is my two month old Warmoth partcaster w/ Twang Kings when it was first screwed together... forgot a few parts but they've since been sorted. It's a joy of a guitar, I can't get enough of it.

Fender stuff.. mix and match....

or how the final Beckster came to be....

the black gold flek body is an '08 deluxe Beck stamped body.. the maple neck is an '89 SE Blackie EC sig. neck medium V .. the tort guard is orig deluxe noiseless '02 just needed to wire the jack... fitted together like a swiss watch with hardly any adjustments action/intonation... PG on... every screw lined up..neck on.. perfect fit (I had to drill the new hole for the curved neck plate).... strings on.. job finished.. 15-30 mins... easiest build I've ever done...

the 'buckers went in another build.... the blue/green? strat is back in parts... I guess there's a r/w neck laying around too...

Yeah, those are really nice. I am loving the faux binding, and these have done it perfectly.

Plus they look like faux binding and roundover. I love it.

The Chibacaster, hand shaped pickguard. The two volumes are incredibly useful. Babicz high tech bridge. Tom short p/us, "undercover mini" in the neck. This is a most versatile instrument, can do anything. Now serving as my go to slide, open tunings guitar:

The T-style partscasters I'm working on now (the blue one is the closest to done, the black one I've been working on since 2006, the SB one is a body I bought on here that I almost have enough extra parts to finish that one off too.)
http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp360/dannew2008/h2/5-2-10043.jpg
I took these 2 apart to make one "good" one (I loved the neck of the blue one, and the body from the black one felt like it weighed 1/2 as much so I tried them together. I added one of those "high mass" trem blocks from GFS and got this (the one on the right)
http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp360/dannew2008/h2/guit014.jpg
The one on the left is a neck-thru S-style, once I can attatch the bridge in the right place that one'll be done too.
http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp360/dannew2008/h2/1-21-11034.jpg
The last one is another S-type I found at a used store. It's definitely not a Fender but I don't actually know what it is. Someone tried to "relic" it and I'm trying to make it look less fake. So far I've darkened the fretboard (it was the lightest "rosewood" type I've ever seen), refinished the rest of the neck (they sanded half the finish off and rubbed dirt or something all over it, wrote their name in Sharpie on the headstock, beat the body all to hell and brushed yellow stain all over the front (but not the back...?) Anyway it's still going to look used, but not the terrible fake job it was.
Parts caster assembling is fun!

Here's mine. Solid Koa from Warmoth (no complaints here about the quality), clear-coated, copper-lined, Gotoh bridge, CTS 250K pots, YJM Seymour Duncan pups in the bridge and neck, Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder in the middle. Two volume knobs, one for the YJMs and one for the QP, tone controls all three. This way I can mix the 2 and 4 positions how I want or I can drop one volume knob to zero and get the gibson style 'on-off toggle' effect.

The latest incarnation:
Pine cv50s body, stripped and refinished with tung oil. The neck is MIM, headstock painted yellow. Not sure what its from, killer grain though.

I've got a 375k volume pot and 250k tone pot. .033 cap. The bridge pup is a voodoo te50 and the neck is a lollar firebird. Barden bridge with compensated saddles.

here's me blakjak & stargasm.

- both maple MM necks 1 w/ an ebony board

- blakjak body is an old peavy i was gifted, painted 1000x by a dude who lives to ROCK. i sanded and scraped and refinished... not perfect, but it has character and i am in love with it. HARD!

- im not telling stargasm's body is cause its a squire body i got off ebay

- i wired starballs with a volume kill switch and i engage it alot when i plug in.

- almost all the other business on both guits is fender business.

Baritone Strat. Warmoth conversion neck, and Warmoth body, finished by a local Cleveland guy. All other parts are Fender, except the Hipshot D Tuner, which is now an A Tuner. I had ordered a plain Jane straight-grained neck from Warmoth. When it didn't arrive, I called them. They were extremely embarrassed! They had cashed my check, and lost my order! Two days later, I received this stunning neck by expedited mail. Great company!

Here's my partscaster Tele. I honestly have no idea what it is. I know what the pickups are but that's about it. Here's what I've gathered so far-

Body- I think it's an early Squier, but I'm not sure.

Neck- No name V neck. Don't know what it is but it's comfy.

Pickups- stock Fender neck pup, Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge with push/pull pot for coil splitting.

Bridge- No idea what it is, but it has huge intonation screws.

That's all I realy know about it. Not a lot to say other than that. It's actualy my #1 guitar. It gets picked over my 89 American Standard Tele sometimes.

I made the body out of 3/4" birch plywood that I chambered and laminated together to create a poor man"s Thinline meets a La Cabronita. An Ebay MIM neck, a Filtertron, a Bigsby B50 and a lot of filling and sanding. I'm still waiting on a sorkin bowtie bridge (the perils of ebay purchases) so I can string it up and give it a whirl. It was a lot of fun and I'm already planning the next one.

Threw this together form some old bits and bobs and put some Toneriders in after the original parts box pups didn't cut it. I quite surprised myself, it plays beautifully. It sounds a bit bright so I might put on an ashtray bridge with brass saddles and see how that sounds.

Here's my partscaster Strat. Specs are:

- Chinese alder body, very light
- Axesrus 62 neck
- Bare Knuckle Mother's Milk pickups
- Callaham bridge & trem

The body was originally Candy Apple Red but I stripped it down and sprayed it nitro Fiesta Red, then gave it a bit of a relic treatment (the body was already dinged so it could never be pristine). Plays and sounds terrific, and is my main gigging Strat.

P'ups were not good... surprise surprise. Put in some Mean 90s instead which is how it sits now. I still haven't done the final set up so it doesn't get used much...
