The Flaming Lips - they did it!

The Flaming Lips.

They just bested the Guinness Record for most concerts in different cities in 24 hours. Previous record holder was Jay.Z - he did it by plane. They did it by bus - and they did most all of it right here in Mississippi.

Memphis, Clarksdale, Oxford, Jackson, Hattiesburg, Biloxi, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans. They took the stage here last night at about 3:45 a.m. When they went on sale a few weeks ago, their tickets sold out here in 13 seconds.

That's so awesome. One of my all-time favs. And they are always coming up with cool stuff like that!

One of my favorite bands ever...i'm thrilled they pulled it off...even though i like jay z too...i'm glad it'll be those wacky okies inn the guinness book.

It was done for a VH1 or MTV Online Music Awards show.

Did they lug gear at the same time or was it all set up and they just turned up?
I suspect the latter and who can blame them?

Brilliant band- love their tones.
Pretty amazing number of gigs in 24 hours.

They had two gear trucks which leap-frogged their stops, one always arriving to set up for their gig, while the other would drive on ahead to the next venue.

Cool. I bet they had a blast.

I would have loved to follow them. It would have been a real 'trip'. My wife thinks I'm crazy- no, just bored.
