Need advice about pedal chain arrangement!

Hey TDPRI,

Tis is my first post here!

I thought I'd see what you all would do with this arrangement of pedals I have. Just fishing for ideas to make the arrangement l more versatile, gain stages, etc. I play an American Standard Tele with Rio Grande big bottom set for pickups.

Right now I've got this:

Fulltone GT500 > OCD > J Jeverman Fuzz Drive > PITCHBLACK tuner > Pigtronix Philosophers Tone Compressor > Line 6 M5(used for delay/auto swells mostly)

I also have a TS9DX that's not hooked up. I do notice a slight loss of sparkle when I plug it into the chain which is why its not on my board.

THX!

Question; isn't having the GT-500 with it's separate Boost (OD) and Distortion channels and an OCD an overkill? Is the Fuzz Drive a true Fuzz? If it is, I'd put it first and use the clean side of the GT-500 as a boost( to the fuzz OR the dirty side of the GT-500)... Don't know about the compressor order- Normally it is placed before dirt but not before a fuzz- so it's placement might be good if it is maybe after the fuzz (just don't use it with the fuzz) but before other dirt?

Guitar>Fuzz>compressor>OCD or GT-500> etc...

BTW- this is just guesswork from me, as usual do what sounds best!

Since the tuner is true bypass, put it first, so you're tuning based on your clean signal and not your fuzz signal

It depends how you want to use your compressor as well. Ive always used it right after the tuner (well in a loop of a noise suppressor because they tend to be kind of noisy) but you can also use them to smooth or even out the characteristics of an overdrive or fuzz by putting it after. As always, experiment. Tone is subjective. My signature has my current chain it may help you out. The SHOe Box is a modded MXR Blur box with a zvex SHO circuit built in as an output boost.
