So what is the advantages/differences between the 21 frets versus the 22 frets on tele necks? I am looking around to puruchase a neck for my tele build and would like to know why the differences. I am not a pro at guitar playing but just would like to know why while I am looking around for parts to get for my future tele build.

To the extent of my knowledge, the benefit of a 22 fret neck is that it has the extra fret, and the drawback is that it can interfere with removing the pick guard. Not much beyond that I don't think.

Here's a couple of answers from another thread. You may find this useful.
The rule of thumb is that "modern" design Fender Teles use 22 fret necks, while "vintage and classic" designs use 21 frets.
As stated, 22 fret necks have an overhanging fretboard that carries the 22nd fret.
if possible I'd have always 24. two octaves and the fingerboard division seems to "lighten" up. in absence of that, at least 22 frets, so you end your E strings on a natural D note.

I think 21 frets looks classier. I don't noodle up that high so functionally it makes no difference to me, except that it's easier to remove the pickguard with a 21 fret neck.
What are some songs you'd need the 22nd fret for?

You don't need frets to play past the 21st fret anyway. Just keep going with harmonics, or I use the neck pup as a fret sometimes.

That, or just do like Jeff Beck and tap with a slide in your right hand directly over the pickups with flawless precision. That's an option too.
