Taping off P90 cavities.

Does anyone tape off P90 cavities in the guitar body so that they do not get coated with lacquer? This is my first time using p90s and I fear that the snug fit that they now have will be lost once lacquer coats the sides of the cavities. Should I tape them off somehow? I am concerned that once I tape them off I will have a hard time removing the tape afterwards. I just know that when I see p90 routes on some guitars it looks as though they routed the cavity after it was lacquered. I would be afraid that would melt the finish though.

Tape them off with blue painters tape. It will come right off easily.

But i wouldn't worry about lacquer building up to thick. It would take 20+ coats to get to that point.

One thing to consider (I learned it the hard way): If you don't seal the cavities somehow, you'll have to think about it later when you wet-sand (you don't want water getting in there and then up under the lacquer).
