Hey there, I know this has been discussed a little before, but I cant find exactly what i'm searching for via google search.
I remember reading that allparts nitro finished necks were actually nitro over poly. But then I think I remember reading that they had fixed this BS and started having pure nitro finishes... maybe i dreamed it!
Now that I've found some wonderfully discounted allparts dealers I would love to get a fat neck for my newly acquired telemaster- it has an MJT surf green jazzmaster body with a MIM maple neck. The neck fits perfectly in the pocket and is pretty okay- but I'd like something fatter, more vintage tint, and with bigger frets.
so how are the nitro finishes on allparts necks these days? I can do fretwork pretty well- but how are the frets- dont they come with a nut too? Will my MIM tuners drop in?
More over, Has anyone tried the new (i believe they're new at least) allparts "satin aged-look finish" guitar necks? From trying to compare this discount sites product to allparts site it looks like they actually might be poly finishes. But I'm all well and good with that if they're thin enough. I have a blacktop strat neck that doesnt even have a thin finish that resonates beautifully with poly.
Anyways- some answers would be lovely! Finish work aint cheap and I'm a huge fan of that smooth back of the neck feel. Making me wanna get a solid rosewood neck from warmoth! But I love me some vintage tint maple necks!
