The body is alder and the Jazzmaster pickups are Duncan Designed. It has the same vintage-look tuners are my VM Tele and it has an ever darker vintage-look tint on the neck & head & fret board.

It plays in tune with itself. It really plays in tune. The Duncan Jazzmaster pickups have a nice bite with a crisp top and a warm hollow middle. The sound reminds me of guitar sounds on Joe Jackson records like Look Sharp or Beat Crazy - Gary Sanford sound.

The pots are nice and solid. Like a Tele Knob for volume with a knurled black metal collar for tone. There are actually 4 knobs and they feel really solid.

The bridge reminds me of an old Peavey T-15 bridge. There is one big screw in the rear center that anchors everything to the guitar and then there are two other screws at either end of the saddles that let you tweak height at each E string. You can change the length of each string with a phillips set screw. It's a bit unusual but it works very well. Solid.

The quality/price relationship are crazy. These things are near Rondo-cheap. $274. I used a 15% coupon like GC has over 4th of July = $233. $233 for Jazzmaster feel and tone and look (sort of).

Strap locks have been installed. It stays. I now have two guitars from Indonesia. Seems far far away.

Local shops didn't have any. I took a flyer and just ordered one from GC. I figured I could return it if it was terrible but it worked out well. Sight unseen!

It's going to be 94-100 degrees here for three days. I'm not coming out of the basement. Play play play.

Awesome guitar man! Wanna get the new Squire JM and swap the neck out for one of these - maple + jazzmaster = best guitar ever.

Maybe it's just me but I always have thought that Indonesian guitars are nicer than Chinese...Congrats, My first guitar was a JM and it's the most comfortable body style ever made-IMO.

Love just about everything about those, except the concentric controls, but it's easy and cheap to replace those. Great neck profile on them too.

I hear you but they are really solid metal parts. Very smooth. Very positive. Nothing cheap or cheesy. They did a good job.

It's fun to sing with.....old Elvis Costello tunes....fun!

Beautiful, The typical Jazzmaster/Jaguar controls and input jack always bug me and get in the way of my picking hand, but this looks like it;s suit my style perfectly. Congrats mate, that looks like one awesome guitar.

Yes, much as I like the trad colors the coming Squier JMs, this is the one for me. Cleaner controls, a nice maple neck and no whammy bar. Sweet.

John, I know they're not P-90s, but how do these Duncan p/us compare to them? I know you've got a bunch of nice P-90 guitars to measure against...

Congrats, that looks great.
I'm sorta on the lookout or a Jaguar or Jazzmaster, but not really sure yet. May have to check this out as I remember seeing one at my local shop.

I think that the Jazzmaster pickups have a little more bite in the top/high end. The mids are softer and the low bass is louder.

It's like someone scooped the mids slightly on a P90.

I've had three Fender or Squier guitars with the Duncan Designed pickups. I think the whole Duncan/Squier cross marketing thing is brilliant. The pickups sound good, the Duncan name on an affordable guitar makes me feel more confident about the guitar. I like the Vintage Modified Squiers. I like Mr. Duncan. Put the two together and it's a 2 + 2 = 7 type deal

I have the same guitar. I bought it used thinking I could fix it. The original owner got rid of it because of the noise.
I've tried several wiring configurations, and it's still far too noisy to be playable.
I find the bridge system to be one of the worst designs Fender ever made.
Maybe that's why the have discontinued it and relaced it with an original Jazzmaster design.

The newest Jazzmaster is very attractive and I'll order one as soon as someone tells me how noisy it is, hopefully that problem has been fixed.

Not trying to rain on your parade, if you like it, you like it. My guess is the one I have has a bad pick up that was that way since it was made.
