Just attach the clip to the battery. It might take a bit of effort to snap the clip on... Battery fits into that opening in the back of the pedal, and when you plug the guitar into the input, or right side of the pedal, and the output, or left side plugs into your amp with a patch cable. When you turn on your amp, the pedal will activate.

Welcome to the forum.

This may sound really stupid, but Joyo pedals sometimes come with the battery in its compartment, but not connected and still in a thin clear plastic wrapper. If this is what's happened in your case (not easy to see from the photos), simply remove the clear outer wrapper from the battery to expose the terminals. It's then easy to connect the battery clip - the bigger terminal goes on the smaller button on the battery, while the button on the clip goes in the larger terminal on the battery. Then refit the little cover and you're ready to go.

Sorry if all this sounds really obvious, but if you've never done it before it may not be. As flyingbanana says, plugging something into the input socket switches the pedal on.
