I'm thinking about buying this off a friend who got it at a pawn shop in the south 40 years ago. Tuners have been replaced, had a fret job, but otherwise original. Soft case. Value of this?
Thanks!
Thanks!

WCK85 June 27th, 2012, 11:08 AM On Ebay I've seen anywhere from 6-10k depending on condition. http://www.ebay.com/itm/GIBSON-LES-PAUL-JR-CHERRY-VINTAGE-1958-GREAT-SHAPE-/120198483637?pt=Guitar&hash=item1bfc634eb5 Arbiter June 27th, 2012, 11:25 AM If it's the real deal they are not cheap. 2k+ for a refinished one. 6k+ for "real deal" vintage. I don't even know what they sound like but I've always wanted one. Coolest looking guitar ever made IMO. timmytVA June 28th, 2012, 07:54 AM Double cut Juniors? Those are some the coolest, bad ass rock and roll guitars on the planet. http://www.glampunk.org/thunders/images/gangw1.jpg Tim H. Mac June 28th, 2012, 08:11 AM Les Paul Juniors are fantastic guitars, but $6,000 + is a bit of a stretch. Southside Guitars has a '58 for $5,200. Lark Street Music has a '58 for $4,500. Buffalo Brothers has a '59 for $5,500. Gruhn has a '59 for $4,350. Tommy's Guitar shop has a '59 for $5,300. Lakeshore Guitars has a '59 for $5,400. You can confirm this info by going to http://www.gbase.com/gear and entering the guitar you want. I just did a quick search on '58s and '59s. Did I mention that Les Paul Juniors are fantastic guitars? goldtopper June 28th, 2012, 09:22 AM Willies has 2- A '59 all original for $4250 and a '59 refin w/bigsby for $2750 w/ matching Gibson Falcon Amp. http://www.williesguitars.com/index.cfm/gibson_electrics/3 wallis222 June 28th, 2012, 04:17 PM The you got a good deal price: $2750 The you guys are friends and both got a fair price, price: $3200 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1960-Vintage-Gibson-Les-Paul-Junior-guitar-/180915539894?pt=Guitar&hash=item2a1f680fb6 Ebay prices are always about 20% too high if you ask me. purpletele June 28th, 2012, 04:31 PM Replaced tuners and frets, I'd say $3000-$4000, maybe lower on a good day. I'd pay whatever your friend asks though if you can swing it. Those are great guitars. Even not being 100% original it' s only going to gain value. TelecasterSam August 16th, 2012, 11:29 PM Thanks, all. Lazerface August 17th, 2012, 07:06 PM I can only say please buy it and post pictures!!! I have a 2005 GOW dc jr, but would love to have an original! 139885 DrumBob August 18th, 2012, 12:37 AM Even not being 100% original it' s only going to gain value. Not really true. I follow the price trends on Juniors very closely, and the market on them is dead right now. Six or seven years ago, you could sell an old Junior for a lot of coin, but they have trailed off badly. They're out of style right now. I sold my '57 to Buzzy Levine at Lark Street for $6000, and made a very handsome profit. He probably sold it for $7000+. I've seen the same Juniors sitting on eBay for months at a time. They're all overpriced, and the sellers just don't get it. Your estimation of $3-4K is a little high for a modded one. Juniors took a serious dump when the economy tanked. Michael's Music is overpriced on everything. Don't use them as a barometer. His prices are out there. Crazy. Dan R August 18th, 2012, 09:44 AM I guess most everyone has these stories, but I remember in the late 80's a friend had a LP Junior, single cutaway in vintage sunburst. Another friend offered him $300.00. He wanted $350.00... no deal. He balked over 50 bucks. Even then it was not seen to have tremendous vintage value. Some mistakenly viewed them as 2nd rate Gibsons. Dan R B.G.L. August 18th, 2012, 03:08 PM By coincidence, I just noticed today that LSL is now making an LP JR. double-cut. ME WANT, BAD!!! Explain, plz. - D Hiker August 19th, 2012, 06:41 PM Determine the date of manufacture, store's name and address that originally sold it, a list of the owners names and dates of purchase (if available). Take off for replacement frets, and determine a rating for the condition (poor, good with missing finish or other mods performed, or alterations, average, very good, excellent), also take off if the original tuners are not included in the deal. Upon determining as much detail as possible-begin comparing to others in comparable condition, and making a fair adjustment for missing, or replacement parts and wear, scratches, dings. Maybe I'm missing something here. I LOVE DC Juniors, and I'd LOVE to own one. But this is a 54yo guitar- does anyone actually expect it to have no fret wear?? SpeyFly August 19th, 2012, 09:34 PM LSL?
