Clean boost headroom

I just made the saltbooster and it distorts more than I was expecting. Overall, I'm not too devastated by the clipping. It took no time to make and just a handful of parts. I was wondering though, if giving it more voltage would allow it to boost more and distort less? Is this safe to do in this circuit? What determines when it's ok to use more power-do the caps just need to be rated higher than the voltage you're giving it?
