Sirfretsalot June 26th, 2012, 08:33 PM Seriously considering pulling the trigger on a Brad Paisley pedal by Wampler. But since this little box cost over 200 bucks, I'd like a few reviews before spending what I consider to be a bit too much for a pedal. Any help would be appreciated.
bigjed June 26th, 2012, 08:36 PM Brad Paisley?

Theyre a lot of threads on this in the stomp box forum. Try looking there.
Sirfretsalot June 26th, 2012, 08:40 PM Yes, Brad Paisley.
indiobravo June 26th, 2012, 08:55 PM you know, that fella with a little tele history. heard he can play a little ;-)
TwangBilly June 27th, 2012, 02:58 AM Brad Paisley? Yeah I've heard of him I think, may be because he's from my state. And so is Bill Crook come to think of it! W.V. Is full of talented people! ;) I don't know about this pedal but I would say technique is going to be more of the determining factor in simulating his sound, more so than gadgets and gear. And yes I said simulating, NOT duplicating, you can forget that! I've heard Mr. Crook uses specific components and techniques in building Paisley's guitars that he uses for no one else, and Paisley plays thru many thousands of dollars worth of custom gear. I'm guilty of chasing that tone myself with my limited budget and abilities. But us common folks will just have to settle for "close".
TimW June 27th, 2012, 05:30 AM I have a Paisley Drive, it's the best od pedal I've owned over 30 years of playing.
It is capable of quite a few different tones due to the 3 position mid and presence switch.
2 friends ordered their own after hearing mine. It is an expensive pedal but worth it IMO
Twang Man June 27th, 2012, 05:44 AM Can you buy Brad's fingers? no? well no one will nail his sound until they can!
hwy145 June 27th, 2012, 05:55 AM Loved it, but love my Timmy more.
Brandon mac June 27th, 2012, 01:27 PM i have a paisley drive. its the best od pedal ive ever used. imho it gets pigeon holed as being a country od because of the paisley name on it,but it is right at home for just about any style of music.
MASONish June 27th, 2012, 01:48 PM I agree with Brandon about being one of the best OD pedals out. Really cleans up nice. It will definitely give you a Paisley tone, if that's what your after. I could never do him justice but I'm a chicken picker & absolutely love this pedal for that.
jammers5 June 27th, 2012, 01:51 PM I have owned tons of overdrive pedals. The Paisley is the best one I ever owned!

ADinNYC June 27th, 2012, 02:01 PM Love it!
Brett Valentine June 28th, 2012, 04:14 PM I have the Paisley Drive as well as the Ecstasy. They make a great pair!
telerocker1988 June 28th, 2012, 07:21 PM The Paisley Drive is my favorite overdrive period. It has never left the board. I find pedals like the Tim, Timmy, Ecstasy, etc too transparent and gritty and too much top end. I like a nice midrange sound to my overdrive that cuts through and I find the fatter the tone, the better it cuts through. That said depending on where you set the mids switch, it can do a nice Dumbleesque/transparent thing too. But I love it. It's the ultimate Tubescreamer derivative. Not as muddy as an 808 and a lot more gain on tap.
If I wanted transparent, I'd use my KOT. It's smooth transparent and warmer where as the Tim(my) and Mad Professor Sweet Honey and Blues Driver are gritty transparent and brighter. The KOT is great at bluesier stuff. Tim/Timmy is better for country stuff... Which I assume most on here play, so I guess that's why people prefer them. The Tim and SHOD definitely nail that gritty country thing if you like that though. For me I prefer some more fatness as I'm a rock n' roller/blues guy.
DeVilleDude June 29th, 2012, 09:18 AM +1 for the Wampler Paisley....makes all my other od's/dirt boxes sound thin and lifeless by comparison. (To be fair, it is also the most expensive OD I've got.) Well worth the $$ IMO. I'm saving up now for the Tweed 57!
uriah1 June 29th, 2012, 09:21 AM I got one and returned it. Nice pedal, just not for me.
twangjeff June 29th, 2012, 01:51 PM Just look on the "Show us your pedalboard!" Thread and you will see that a Paisley overdrive is included with your subscription to the Telecaster forum. ;-)

Then I guess you will know that the toothbrush was invented in WV, anywhere else it would have been the "teethbrush"!
hotraman June 30th, 2012, 12:30 AM yep! Another happy owner of a Wampler Paisley OD ... sounds great alone or stacked with my Fulltone FD 2.
newdrxn July 1st, 2012, 01:53 AM +1 for the Paisley Drive! Its limitless to me. I own three of them...mine are pink and hand-signed by BP! Wampler and Brad did a breast cancer donation thing last year and I bought all of them...the company I own donates a portion of all revenues each year anyway so I got to indulge a bit!...(my favorite color too by the way.) I play with two of them stacked (that is what Brian's crew called it)...first one set as clean boost into the second. I am constantly blown away by the tones I am able to get! Really, limitless. Buy it!

GigsbyBoyUK July 1st, 2012, 11:11 AM I've had mine for a while now...it may have been the first in the UK as I ordered it very soon after launch.
I now use it as an 'always on' pedal with quite a low gain setting to add a lovely crunch to an amp that otherwise needs to be cranked very hard to hit its sweet spot.
It works really well this way. My amp has a super clean sound but having the Paisley on turns it into a lovely slightly overdriven sound that's incredibly responsive to how hard or soft I play, and to changes in volume made from the guitar.
On the few songs when I need more drive I just reach down and adjust the pedal's gain setting.
swleamon July 1st, 2012, 10:30 PM Another recommendation for this pedal. It was exactly what I was hoping for and more. Perfect compliment to my other dirt pedals and a perfect marriage to my Dr Z.
I only hesitated because I didn't want to seem too much like a fanboy :-)
