I ran across a used Fender Strat with a set neck and 2 humbuckers for $250, but there was no serial#, so not sure if it is MIJ or MIK. Is it worth grabbing?

I just remembered, it is a Stagemaster. So, worth it?

Do you mean a Showmaster? The Stagemasters were the Squier superstrat things.

There's some more info on their history here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fender_Showmaster

maybe it is a Showmaster, but it is definitely not a Squire. The body does not have binding either, has a 2 point trem, 2 Seymour Duncan humbuckers without covers, body is an amber burst and the headstock is also amber.

Duncan's, too and a Fender? It's so worth getting as long as you can hang with a set neck. I would much rather prefer bolt-on neck Fender but then again $250 is a great price.

picked it up last week and dropped it off to be completely gone through and set up...will take pics when I get it back Thursday. I ended up getting it for $220 OTD. Don't think I can lose...

Well, I have to say I love how it feels...but the pick ups are way too hot for my style. SD 59 in the neck and SD Pearly Gates in the bridge. Not sure if she stays or not...

That looks like a Showmaster! My dad gave me one a while back. I've only played it a few times but I like it.

Well, I just couldn't bond with it, so I traded it off to someone who will use it the way it needs to be used. I play strictly cleans and reverbs, so traded for an Ibanez AF75 hollowbody plus cash.

If it's anything like the Telecaster version, then I personally find that they are crappy guitars. They weigh about 4lbs (and think of the sound you're going to get with that weight), and the frets are rediculously huge. Crap for sustain, and replacing the pickups doesn't even help.

Looks super cool for that price. Nice find.
