...but has anyone tried using or know of anyone using lap steel-style palm benders on an electric guitar? I was thinking id love to put a bigsby on my tele, and i was also thinking id love to purchase a dobro with benders eventually, but couldnt i, with some tonal tweaking of course, get the sounds of both by adding a palm bender system to a telecaster? the b-bender system is cool and all, but i really think it would be more versitale, efficient, and convenient if i just added some palm benders.
One of the reasons too is i love keeping everything as singular as possible. I dont ever think ill use more than two electric guitars for a live show, one or two amps, one pedalboard, etc.
Just in case it matters for your answer, for the dobro-ey sounds, im not thinking so much a country western sound, but a more americana/folk sound, a la solo at the end of the video below.
Thanks guys!

...and FWIW, my other guitar is a Roland-Ready Strat..both guitars are capable of powering my (old!!) Roland GR-30 guitar synthesiser... my (only major) effects unit is my (old!!) Boss GT-5.... and everything goes through my 59 RI Tweed Bassman....

...so it CAN be done... ...but let me warn you ahead of time that the severely-modified BPP has taken years to get where it's at, and was a LOT of work..
