Strap hangers: is there a right way?

I have recently acquired a little leather strap that 'buttons' around the neck of my Washburn (which, sadly, was born with only one strap button). It has a second button on it for the guitar strap.

Installation is a breeze, but I wonder about orientation: does it matter how it all hangs?

Example 1: and example 2:

These show the strap meeting the button from the front, and from the back.

I like this little Washburn, and I don't want a panic dismount if I can help it!

dont know if it matters which way you hang it, i think the first one looks better for some reason

I learned the hard way to always keep a hand on the neck, regardless of how the strap is attached. Falls are very bad for guitars. The second picture looks more stable to me.

Why not install a button on the heel?

Think this is for already-installed strap buttons.

Zatoichi, I may be looking at the pics wrong, but I think I'd keep the little Martin strap on the end on the main Franklin guitar strap at all times, and when it's time to put on the guitar, put the little Martin strap around both sides of the main Franklin guitar strap. So the main Franklin guitar strap's always in the middle.

Me neither, so I use this:

Solid, simple and cheap.
