"Third Eye Blind" 1997 self-titled CD
She's used to my Metal,Blues, and Funk CD's but she couldn't take this one:mrgreen:
WCK85 June 25th, 2012, 01:03 AM That's a good CD! I wish they made better follow up albums.
Pants June 25th, 2012, 01:30 AM That album is pure gold. Every song is catchy and well put together, and the arrangements are deceptively complicated. Lots of wacky alternate tunings- dig those big open chords in Narcolepsy.
bowman June 25th, 2012, 07:37 AM Hey, I used to listen to that one all the time! Nothing wrong with it at all - it's pretty good for a pop hit record. I couldn't listen to it every day, but I like it.
Mike Eskimo June 25th, 2012, 08:19 AM Could just be that like a lot of us, she heard it 70,000 times back in the day and no longer wishes to.*
Put on Penny Lane or Got To Get You Into My Life or Daytripper or almost any Beatles song and I'll surprise you with how swiftly I can leave that room.
Life's too short to have your ears bombarded with stuff you've already heard way too much.
* Or it could be that she never dug that guy's whiny voice at all in the first place.
mal paso June 25th, 2012, 08:45 AM I don't get guilty pleasure
telefunken June 25th, 2012, 09:55 AM I don't get guilty pleasure
You know.....................like when you dance a little when "Ice Ice Baby" comes on the radio, when no one is looking:mrgreen::mrgreen:
mal paso June 25th, 2012, 10:30 AM Haha! How did you know about that!
Rasmuth June 25th, 2012, 11:04 AM I can relate...happens every time I crank up Cinderella....yeah...I'm being serious
dutchgoff June 25th, 2012, 12:03 PM I'd remember her reaction and use cd when I needed some space.
Lenderman_k June 25th, 2012, 02:54 PM I loved their first 3 albums
Skully June 25th, 2012, 03:18 PM I think the first half of the album is great ("Losing a Whole Year" through "Thanks a Lot").
No need for guilt.
Leep Dog June 25th, 2012, 03:31 PM I wore that first album out. It was one of our preferred cd's to put on when were getting our minds right to head out for some drunken debauchery in college. I remember when they came to town for a show. Half way through their set one of my extremely drunk friends very angrily asked me "when the hell is Third Eye gonna start?" Ha ha.
I got the next 2 albums as well and I thought they were pretty good too.
Post Toastie June 25th, 2012, 04:15 PM I can relate...happens every time I crank up Cinderella....yeah...I'm being serious
+1
krowbot June 25th, 2012, 04:19 PM Yeah good stuff. I used to listen to "Narcolepsy" over and over.
getbent June 25th, 2012, 04:21 PM is it possible that she was afraid it was a request?
beaugatlin June 25th, 2012, 04:47 PM Great album!
charlie chitlin June 25th, 2012, 06:06 PM If that's your wife in your avatar, play what she likes and keep her in the room.
Telesavalis June 25th, 2012, 06:08 PM my wife does that when I watch the Rush concert DVD.
E5RSY June 25th, 2012, 07:04 PM Pretty good record, but no one should be subjected to that guy singing live.
Skully June 25th, 2012, 08:04 PM Pretty good record, but no one should be subjected to that guy singing live.
I remember him trying to hit the high note in "Semi-Charmed Life" on "The Tonight Show" or something like that back in the day, and missing badly. The fact that this stands out in my memory really says something. As the kids would say, "Epic fail!"
Mr Perch June 25th, 2012, 08:16 PM If you're going to drive her out the room, why not go for something really cool like Captain Beefheart?
jbmando June 25th, 2012, 08:54 PM I didn't think I was familiar with it at all, but I recognized "Semi-Charmed Life" from having to hear other guys' radios tuned into rock stations (z95, wmmr, wysp for those of you familiar with SE PA radio) on the job. I always kind of liked it.
I just listened to the first 10-15 seconds of all the songs. I think I'd like the album.
straightface June 25th, 2012, 09:02 PM Hey I own that CD. Haven't listened to it in years though. I remember it had some good songs on it. I'll have to get re-acquainted.
telefunken June 25th, 2012, 09:31 PM If that's your wife in your avatar, play what she likes and keep her in the room.
Yes that is she!!
Memphis Hawk June 26th, 2012, 06:27 AM My wife does that when I play guitar. I just ad lib all day and record cool phrases, licks, riffs whatever I come up with until I get a song, but every now and then I will just start going widdily-widdily-widdily-WIDDILY-WIDDILY-WEEEEEOOOOOO-WEOOOOOOO, and shortly thereafter I will hear "TURN IT DOWNNNNN"
