This is for sale on Craigslist, surely this is a fake? I'm not sure if Fender have made Strat's with block inlays but surely if they did they would be aligned??? Look like a fake to me can anybody confirm or seen one of these before? The pups, tremolo and controls just all look wrong!

Even the headstock looks an odd shape!

are you sure they are actually block inlays or just some one who used some electrical tape to emulate block inlays? Idk about the rest but those "inlays" look like tape to me

That is a fake but you can always commission Fender Custom Shop to make you a sunburst strat with block inlays and non matching green pickguard. Heck, they did this:

While I don't really go for block inlays on Fenders as I always think first of Les Paul Custom, it's fun to see that Fender Japan did this (next photo):

More like magic marker....

ive seen both the magic marker and electrical tape treatments walk into my local shop so it's not outside the realm of possibility:lol: the neck with magic marker was a real tragedy because it was a decently good sounding mexi tele but the magic marker lighting bolts kinda killed it for me, and when they tried to clean it off it just kinda smeared. At least if you bought this strat I imagine you could pull the tape off without too much trouble

Fake or not that green pearl pickguard has to go. You can deduct $100 for incredibly poor taste right off the bat.

The owner is clearly a complete idiot. He will never sell this so if you want it just wait a while and offer him about half what he's asking.

But if someone is willing to make a guitar as ugly as **** then they probably haven't looked after it very well.

Avoid.

What if this thing would turn out to be the ultimate player (looks aside).

You can't judge a book by the cover, but you would have to pick it up and play it to find out --- ewwww

I've seen those Japanese Strats on the interweb before and I would buy one of those if I saw one for sale,

I'd say it's a rather ugly partscaster, with what look like very uneven painted blocks and a Christmas theme going on with the pickguard and the gold bell knobs.

The decal looks very fake. 60s "Fender" with a 70s "Stratocaster" and a badly placed "Original contour body".

They actually sell vinyl decals that you stick to your fretboard. They make all colors, and even fake MOP
