Sonic Stomp Help

I just got a new BBE Sonic Stomp and I can't get it to function right. Here's the problem with the pedal engaged and both knobs at the recommended 12 o'clock it lowers my amp volume by more that half. I've tried the pedal with both 9v power supply and with a fresh battery. Nothing else in line just guitar to pedal to amp. I'm pretty sure it's screwed up but before I ship it back I'd like a reality check from experience sonic stompers.

Well, that's certainly not normal. I've been using a Sonic Stomp for a while and never had a problem with it cutting my volume.
