One of my top five all time bands for sure, but I've never been able to see them live.

Luckily for me they are playing a two night engagement to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Liberty Hall in Lawrence, KS, (just a hop, skip and jump from KC where I live) my entire band and I went last night!

Their shows are the stuff of legend, and know I know why. One of the greatest experiences of my life, not just in music concerts.

Pretty cool. The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi are two of my favorite albums period, by any artist. They define an era of my life almost.....

I saw them open for The Replacements at the Berkeley Square in Berkeley, CA, in 1986. They were a trio (the now-bald bassist had a towering head of hair). Wayne Coyne was plastered. I heckled him.

My friend is working on some VH1 Online Music Awards show where Flaming Lips is going to be playing for 24 hours straight (or something like that) on a bus traveling to New Orleans.

They played a show in Chicago that some friends of mine set up back about seven or eight years ago. I got to wear the skunk costume (and it smelled like a skunk), hang out back stage, drink all their beer and hang out with them. They put on a fantastic show and were very nice, cool people who seemed to be really enjoying what they do.

There live shows are awesome. Steven is incredibly talented and has his own niche. Wayne got me hooked to Twitter that sob.

I kinda grew up with these guys. First saw them back in 1983 before their first ep even came out. Boy, what a mess they were. Loved 'em!

Went on to see them play a couple hundred times. Had the good fortune to even hang with them in the studio a few times.

Wayne is one of the most creative people I've ever met. His mind is ceaselessly coming up with ideas for artworks, music, films, etc., etc. It's as if his brain is on fire.

And Steve Drozd is, without question, one of the most talented musicians I have ever known. The guy can seriously create a symphony from a beer can and a blade of grass.

Haven't talked to them since around the time Soft Bulletin came out. They started getting so big...always on tour, lots of people glomming onto them. Plus I became a family man around that time and moved from Oklahoma not long after.

Great bunch of guys.

I was lucky enough to see the Flaming Lips when Ronald Jones was still playing with them. Haven't been as interested in the music they've made since his departure.

Love the Flaming Lips. Was fortunate to see them a year or so back, and what a great experience! More than just a rock show.

Yeah, I love pretty much all the Lips' work up through Yoshimi Battles..but for me I think their peak was the Ronald era. Transmissions from the Satellite Heart is a freaking CLASSIC of psych rock/pop, and Clouds Taste Metallic is nearly as good. They put on one heck of a great (and loud!) show when Ronald was with them as well.

Although I will say that In a Priest-Driven Ambulance and Soft Bulletin, while so very different in sound and feel, might be my two overall favorite albums by them, and neither have Ronald on them. What a great, unique, inventive guitar player he is.
